Jesus taught us to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Sometimes we just don’t know what to pray. The Five Finger Prayer is one example of a prayer guide. You can make your own guide by tracing your hand and writing in the prompts: self, those who are weak and sick, people in authority, leaders who show us the way, and those closest to us.

There’s a line many of us know: “I fought the law, and the law won.” Some of you hear that and start humming. That line captures something deeper than a catchy tune. It names a truth about the human heart:
We don’t just fight the law.
We fight the Lord.
