Day 2 of Juniata Valley Council, Scouting America Cub Scout Camp was tons of fun! Our older scouts learned about nutrition, shot archery, learned about birds at the nature station, and ended the day at BB guns! We also at fun at the Gaga ball pit, and ended the day at the pool!

Pack 35 is at Juniata Valley Council, Scouting America Cub Scout Camp! This year’s theme is DINOTOPIA!

Yesterday, our younger scouts started the day in the pool, dug for fossils, learned about the descendants of dinosaurs (our modern birds!), and ended the day at archery.

Pack 35 has been active the last few months!

In February, we had our annual Blue and Gold Banquet where our Webelos cooked and served dinner, and our Arrow of Lights crossed over to Scouting America.

In March, our Webelos and Bears toured the Centre County Register of Wills office and learned how that part of our local government operates.

In April, in honor of the Artemis II mission to the moon, the Pack made straw rockets.

And this month, our Pack hiked and fished at Bald Eagle State Park, and also assisted in placing flags at the graves of veterans in Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.

Today was race day for Pack 35! Our annual Pinewood Derby was a lot of fun, and our scouts all had very creative design...

Today was race day for Pack 35! Our annual Pinewood Derby was a lot of fun, and our scouts all had very creative designs. Thanks to Cub Scout Pack 23 - Pleasant Gap, PA for having a joint race day with us again!

Here's some more Klondike Derby pics. I'm very proud of how well these scouts competed and their positive attitudes throughout this strenuous cold day. It is an accomplishment in itself to merely participate. Not only did they complete every event, but they overcame the adversity of a broken ski and finished in a respectable 7th place, which is very impressive considering this was their first time. Like any good scout would, they did their best. WAY TO GO GENTLEMEN!

Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts from Pack 35 participated in the Juniata Valley Council, Scouting America Klondike Derby this past Saturday. It was a very cold start to the date, but our scouts had a great time participating in competitions involving BB guns, archery, first aid, geography, portage, and history. Our scouts especially enjoyed the cooking competition, which required the use of corn. Pack 35 won the award for the most creative use of corn by making cheesy grits with bacon over an open fire!
