Here's some more Klondike Derby pics. I'm very proud of how well these scouts competed and their positive attitudes throughout this strenuous cold day. It is an accomplishment in itself to merely participate. Not only did they complete every event, but they overcame the adversity of a broken ski and finished in a respectable 7th place, which is very impressive considering this was their first time. Like any good scout would, they did their best. WAY TO GO GENTLEMEN!

Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts from Pack 35 participated in the Juniata Valley Council, Scouting America Klondike Derby this past Saturday. It was a very cold start to the date, but our scouts had a great time participating in competitions involving BB guns, archery, first aid, geography, portage, and history. Our scouts especially enjoyed the cooking competition, which required the use of corn. Pack 35 won the award for the most creative use of corn by making cheesy grits with bacon over an open fire!

Game On! Pack 35 was at the Nittany District Fall Camporee this weekend, and we played kickball, capture the flag, human foosball, and lots of other games. Thanks again to Troop 66 and Pack 23 for letting us camp with them!

Pack 35 is Scouting for Food! Since the program started in 1989, over 1,000,000 tons of food have been collected for our neighbors in Blair, Centre, Huntingdon, Juniata, and Mifflin Counties. All food collected is distributed to local food banks and food pantries.

Door hangers explaining the program are being distributed today. Food collection is Saturday, October 25. Please place your bagged non-perishable food items on your front porch by 8:00 a.m. Thank you in advance!

Pack 35 had its annual Owl Prowl hike last night at Fisherman’s Paradise. At dusk, we hiked into the woods, made owl calls, and were able to speak to several different screech owls!
