Sheriff Sampsel visited with Troop 34 and Troop 35 to discuss the constitutional rights of US citizens for Rank requirements. We are grateful to have a Sheriff that is so supportive of the Scouting program and our community.

A contingent of Scouts worked hard tonight clearing invasive species, removing deadfall, and clearing rocks, grass, weeds, and sticks from Sunnyside cemetery. The rain cooperated and only sprinkled while working! ❤️⚜️

Monday night the Troop had their annual Court of Honor. Every Scout was recognized with their accomplishments for the last 12 months. We are so proud of each and every Scout for everything they have done!

In the last year...

Two Scouts earned their Eagle Rank
Three Scouts earned their Life Rank
One Scout earned his Star Rank
One Scout earned his First Class Rank
Two Scouts earned their Second Class Rank
Five Scouts earned their Tenderfoot Rank
Four Scouts earned their Scout Rank

Troop 34 had 15 youth and 3 adults spend the week at Seven Mountains Scout Camp. We were able to go see the Union Pacific’s Big Boy #4014 as it traveled through a nearby town on the historic coast-to-coast tour. We had one Scout called out for the Order of the Arrow. The Scouts earned a total of 50 merit badges, worked on Rank advancements, made new friends, challenged themselves physically and mentally, and made memories to last a lifetime. ❤️⚜️

A small group of Scouts headed to Ole Bull this weekend for fishing and to attend the local snake hunt festival.

Friday night shortly after sunset a big black bear strolled through our campsite. We know they don’t want to bother humans and just want to get away from us, but the fact that he moseyed through the campsite while the boys were making a racket and he was soooo close to us caught us off guard! We backed away and sang very loudly and only one Leader took a picture. Afterwards he told us his phone was not good at taking pics and it’s too blurry to see anything but a black blur 🤣

It rained Saturday morning (it’s not a Troop 34 campout without rain, you know!!!) but as soon as it stopped the Boltz were in the creek catching crayfish and the Vultures were fishing. The Boltz wanted to cook the crayfish for lunch, so everyone had at least one!

After lunch we went to the Snake Hunt and one of the Scouts got to hold a non-venomous snake and we watched the competitive snakes get weighed and measured.

After supper the boys spent more time in the water until dark, then we enjoyed some time in front of the campfire before bed.

This weekend was the OA Spring Ordeal. Troop 34 had thirteen Scouts attend. One Scout completed his Ordeal and three Scouts completed their Brotherhood! Three Scouts volunteered as Elangomats, and the remaining Scouts spent the day doing cheerful service in various areas. The weather held out and it was a beautiful weekend! ❤️🏹⚜️

It was another Troop 34 cold and rainy weekend in the beautiful Pine Creek Gorge. The Troop planned a nice 10.5 mile canoe float from Rattlesnake Rock back to our campsite at Black Walnut Bottom. We had two canoes dump, but all four boys were quick witted, remained calm, and were able to dump the water out their canoes and get back in rather quickly. After returning to our campsite, the Scouts enjoyed fishing, hanging by the campfire, and eating s’mores. We love how these boys rally and create memories to last a lifetime. ❤️⚜️🛶
