We are cancelling tomorrow's Women's Wisdom Speaker Series event, due to a lack of RSVPs.

We are looking at changing some things with Women United and planning an event for next spring. We were also considering offering new volunteer opportunities we could participate in as a group.

If you would like to be part of the planning and restructuring, feel free to contact Becca at [email protected]. We could really use your help!

As always, thank you for your your support. We're looking forward to the year to come!

Our Women's Wisdom Speaker Series for October will feature two amazing women in Logan County, Suzanne Beach and Hannah Hawke, both with Therapy Services at Mary Rutan Health Center.

Please join us on Thursday, October 24th at the Mary Rutan Health Center HC Community Room, 1134 N. Main St., Bellefontaine at 5:30pm to hear their stories. This will be a great time to get to know one another and be challenged and inspired by their stories of where they came from and how they got to where they are now. Let Becca know you are attending by emailing [email protected].

Suzanne Beach, M.S., CCC-SLP:
Suzanne is the assistant director of Therapy Services at Mary Rutan Health. As a licensed speech-language pathologist for more than 35 years, she specialized in working with adults who experienced a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or neurological disease. Suzanne also has extensive experience in assessing and evaluating patients with complex swallowing disorders. Her talent and experience make her a leading problem-solver and mentor for our MRH therapy staff. Suzanne and her husband Jerry will celebrate their 40th anniversary this December. They have 2 adult sons, 2 lovely daughters-in-law, 3 grandchildren, and 2 dogs.

Hannah Hawke M.A., CCC-SLP:
Hannah Hawke is the director of Therapy Services at Mary Rutan Health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology & Audiology at Miami University in 2006, and her Master of Arts in
Speech-Language Pathology at The University of Toledo in 2008. She enjoys working with many patient types, with special focus on infant feeding difficulties. Hannah was recognized as a Board Certified Swallowing Specialist from 2014-2024. In her spare time, Hannah owns two small businesses and has a nursing home for five old wiener dogs.

We had a great time last Wednesday at Marie's Candies for our Women's Wisdom Speaker Series with Rebecca King-Craig! Thank you to everyone who attended.
Rebecca did a great job telling the story of how Marie's Candies came to be and her role there. It is a story of creativity, community, resilience and faith.
The store is decked out for autumn and if you are looking for a gift for your favorite Buckeye fan, stop by and check out their delectable selections!

Thank you, Rebecca for your hospitality!

We will need to reschedule this class. We did not have enough register for it. If you are interested in taking this class or any other classes, let us know what you think. We are open to your thoughts and ideas.

September is almost upon us, along with College Football, cooler weather and the age-old debate: Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider, or Hot Chocolate!
To set the stage for fall decorations and a genuinely fun evening, make plans to join Women United of Logan County for a Pumpkin Pottery Class with Thelma Matthews!
Back by popular demand, we will be making pumpkins with Thelma Matthews at the Cracked Pot Studio! Last year’s attendees enjoyed it so much, they requested it again for this fall! Registration is required and the cost of the class will be $60. During this class, you will be able to create two pumpkins or one larger pumpkin if you attended last year. This is a two-part class; we will make the pumpkins on September 5th and come back to glaze them on September 19th.
Please register at this link, https://secure.givelively.org/donate/united-way-of-logan-county-inc/women-united-pumpkin-pottery-class, so we know how many to prepare for.
Thursday, September 5 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm and Thursday, September 19 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm

Please join us for the next Women's Wisdom Speaker Series at Marie's Candies!

Rebecca King-Craig of Marie’s Candies will be presenting as part of the Women’s Wisdom Speaker Series on Wednesday, September 11 beginning at 8:30 am at Marie’s Candies in West Liberty.

Rebecca is one of the owners of Marie's Candies, who grew up working in her family’s oh-so-sweet business. After going away to college and working for three years in Columbus, she returned to Marie’s in 2002. She spent 14 years as an assistant to her parents, who owned Marie's from 1976 until 2016.
One of her favorite things to do is put together a theme for an upcoming holiday. She really enjoys choosing and coordinating the gift wrap, gift containers, and candy that will become a display in their store. The job isn't without challenges, but she’s learned from the two generations before her, to work hard and rely on God.

She will be sharing the history of Marie’s, what her role is and what inspires her.

There is no cost to attend, but spots are limited so please RSVP! You can let me know you are coming by emailing me at [email protected].

This is sure to be a great time, plus there will be chocolate!
Friendship and chocolate, can it get any better than that?

UPDATE!!! Due to extenuating circumstances we will be rescheduling this Speaker Series for another time. Stay tuned for an updated schedule.

Please check out our other activities that we have scheduled coming very soon at https://www.uwlogan.org/women-united.

Make plans to attend the next Women United Speaker Series with Kaity Overmyer on Tuesday, August 27th at 5:15 pm in the Goodrich Room at the Logan County Library in Bellefontaine.

Kaity's love for plants started approximately four to five years ago as a way of managing her stress. Prior to opening Eden Haus she worked as a Social Worker, and most recently as a caseworker for Children Services. She found plants provided that grounding experience and mental clarity after a long day of work. She made the decision to open Eden Haus, alongside her family, as a way of sharing her passion with others, and teaching others the therapeutic benefits of taking care of Houseplants.
Kaity will be sharing more about her story and also teaching a class on plant propagation.
This evening promises to be informative, relaxing and fun as we learn from Kaity! There will be a fee of $25.00 to cover the cost of the class. Please let me know if you are planning to attend and consider inviting a friend to come with you! You can register at
