When their home values increase, so does that of surrounding homes on the block. As their fortunes improve, so do the tax revenues, city services, and the overall economic vitality of the area. As we reduce visual blight, so is visual discrimination and negative stereotypes. Our economic mission is also an attack on the segregated nature of our communities, helping those communities restore their pride of place. Our Ecological Mission is to reduce water usage and pollution by installing landscapes that require little or no irrigation, maintenance, or fertilizers. Our Deep-Mulch system robs mulch from the landfill and transforms sandy bio-wastelands into rich composting soil, full of life and nutrients. Our personal development mission is to offer employment and career opportunities to those that find tremendous obstacles with traditional employers. We train and employ people to work with plants and landscapes, and can offer opportunities to people with a wide range of physical, mental, or emotional challenges. We work with non-profit agencies that serve these people, and they prepare them and support them in many ways as they find a way to re-enter productive society. Our personal development mission is an economic development mission. The chronically unemployed create major challenges to our community and face a life of dependency and hopelessness. If they can discover a career they enjoy, earn a living wage, and build a career, our economy will improve as does their lives.
