🎓 College Share 2026: The Best Colleges for the LD Student

Choosing the right college can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re navigating learning differences and trying to understand what support will look like beyond high school.

Join the Neuhaus Family Support Office for a special virtual presentation featuring Toni La’Zurs, Counselor, on Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. CST.

Toni will highlight some of the best learning programs available at various colleges and provide a snapshot of the differences between high school and college learning support. Families will gain practical information to help them better understand their options and prepare for the transition to college.

We've been a little quiet on social media this summer... and for good reason! ☀️📚

At Neuhaus, summer is one of our busiest—and most exciting—times of the year. While we've been a little quieter online, our team has been hard at work advancing literacy in countless ways.

This summer, we:
✨ Delivered training and coaching for Houston ISD's Summer Reading Intensive, helping educators and students build critical literacy skills with incredible results (more on those coming soon!).
✨ Launched our new Dyslexia Clinic and welcomed families to Word Explorers Summer Camp, serving 60 students, with 45% receiving scholarships ensuring access for all families.
✨ Launched new educator certification cohorts, preparing more expert teachers that are diagnostic and prescriptive in their practice.
✨ Began training hundreds of Houston ISD and other district and charter network educators for back-to-school in-service.
✨ Hosted our Adult Literacy summer classes and book club, empowering adult learners to build confidence and strengthen their reading skills.
✨ Kicked off an archives and storage project to preserve Neuhaus' rich history and impact.
✨ Convened literacy leaders, educators, and partners for important focus groups and collaborative conversations that will shape the future of literacy education.
✨ And, of course, continued all of the day-to-day work that drives our mission forward—from educator support and coaching to curriculum development and community partnerships.

None of this would be possible without the incredible educators, school districts, staff members, donors, volunteers, and community partners who believe that literacy changes lives.

☀️ Can you believe we are almost halfway through July?

While summer is in full swing, students, educators, and families are proving that learning doesn't take a vacation. From our educator training to our Word Explorers Summer Camp to our certification cohort launches, this summer season is filled with opportunities to build confident readers and brighter futures.

Every lesson taught, every book opened, and every reading breakthrough reminds us why we do this work. Thank you to our incredible community of supporters, educators, families, and partners for helping us create life-changing literacy opportunities every day.

As we celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th anniversary, we honor the ideals that have shaped our nation for generations—opportunity, perseverance, and the belief that every person deserves the chance to reach their full potential.

At Neuhaus Education Center, we know that literacy opens doors to that promise. Every child who learns to read with confidence gains the freedom to dream bigger, achieve more, and fully participate in their community.

What an incredible first session! 🎉📚

As our June Word Explorers Summer Camp comes to a close, we're celebrating so much more than the end of camp—we're celebrating growth, confidence, and the official launch of the Neuhaus Dyslexia Clinic!

Over the past several weeks, our amazing Word Explorers strengthened their reading skills, built new friendships, and gained knowledge that will continue to support them long after summer ends. Watching their confidence grow has been the highlight of our summer.

This milestone wouldn't have been possible without our dedicated staff, passionate instructors, supportive Board of Trustees, generous donors, and everyone who believed in bringing this vision to life. Thank you for helping us create a place where students can discover their potential and experience the joy of reading.

And a special thank you to the families that trusted us to work with their students!
