TRAPS East Region The TRAPS East Region is part of the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS), a nonprofit education organization!

The TRAPS East Region hosts a variety of workshops, conferences, and special events for parks and recreation professionals. This includes our annual East Region Workshop, Maintenance Rodeo, and Golf Tournament. Our parent organization, the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS), is a nonprofit educational and professional organization founded over 75 years ago to advance the profession of parks

, recreation, and leisure services in Texas. The Society serves as a clearinghouse of information and resources to help with a wide range of challenges facing park, recreation, and leisure service professionals. These include: programming, grant and aid applications, coordinating events, promoting projects, advocacy and legislative awareness, job postings, and professional development and training. Our membership database contains information on the hundreds city and county park and recreation departments around the state, as well as colleges and universities with parks and recreation curricula, state agencies, river authorities, and non-profit and educational entities. A state affiliate member of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), TRAPS also maintains professional affiliate relationships with several state universities, athletic and civic organizations, recreational entities, state agencies, and commercial vendors who provide services or programs related to parks, recreation, and leisure service management. Mission:
To provide education, advocacy and resources to all who enhance the quality of life through parks, open spaces and recreation.

TRAPS Play Day at the Capitol is coming up November 18, and we’re looking for agencies from across the state to host activity booths!

This is a great opportunity to showcase what parks and recreation does in our communities while connecting with legislators and fellow professionals from across Texas.
