Our club's largest fundraiser is the "Flags Over Bellaire" program that puts out American flags on four holidays throughout the year - Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans' Day. We meet in-person on Thursdays at Noon CST at the BraeBurn Country Club 8101 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074.

Did you know there are 150 hidden things in the monumental sculpture of Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter Tea Party called "Move One Place On," installed in Evelyn's Park in Bellaire? Sculptor and author, Bridgette Mongeon, will be our featured guest speaker this week, August 27, and she will reveal some of those hidden things during her talk. Her new book, Alice and the Hidden 150, comes out next month and offers hints, riddles, rhymes, and other things to help in this creative adventure.

Don't miss our speaker this week, Laura Conely! She is sure to get you moving during her talk! Laura is the founder of Urban Paths, a Houston-based walking wellness company that offers guided experiences that connect people with nature, public art, movement, and authentic connection. A certified teacher and nutrition coach, Laura uses the outdoors as her classroom, sharing research on the physical, mental, and social benefits of walking for both individual and community health. Through , she leads free three-mile guided walks across Houston's seven Cultural Arts Districts, pairing each route with local art, music, and refreshments from neighborhood businesses. The program makes wellness, culture, and connection accessible to Houstonians of every background and ability, strengthening community ties one walk at a time.

One of Houston's beloved non-profit orgs is coming to the Bellaire/SW Houston Rotary Club this week! John Day, the Operations Chief & Program Officer at Kids' Meals will be our featured speaker. Kids' Meals is an organization dedicated to combating childhood hunger in Houston. John brings expertise in operations, program management, and volunteer coordination to support the organization's mission of providing free, healthy meals to food-insecure children. Come meet the new Bellaire Police Chief Hester! He is our special guest speaker today! Chief Hester joins Bellaire from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), bringing with him nearly three decades of distinguished public service and leadership experience. Chief Hester began his career in 1998 as a Highway Patrol Trooper and steadily advanced through the ranks, serving in key leadership roles within DPS, including sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major. As Chief of Police, Hester oversees all operations of the Bellaire Police Department and works closely with staff, residents, and community partners to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality, community-focused policing services.
