Today's 2019 Bell Scholar Recipient Highlight is: Abbas Chahine!
Humbled from experience, Abbas Chahine is a quiet, yet sanguine in character. Abbas is attending Long Beach State, pursuing a future in engineering with the goal of improving research and understanding of topics that have been difficult to teach.
His lifelong goals are to be a knowledgeable and compassionate person. Issues such as global warming and cleaner energy sources to minimize pollution. Balancing AP classes with training for basketball taught him the importance of sacrifice to achieve his goals of changing the world. A varsity basketball player of 4 years, Abbas learned countless leadership qualities and valuable lessons on the court which he will use to help his community and more. He has overcome constant barriers and painful moments to be able to represent Lebanon and his home, Bell. He lives by a saying of Imam Ali (as), "It is better to listen to a wise enemy than to seek counsel from a foolish friend."
