California Wing's 2025 Cadet Encampment will be held 21-29 June at Camp Roberts. We expect registration to open soon.

We encourage all our cadets planning to attend encampment to apply for the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP).

The Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP) application process for Spring/Summer Encampments opens Saturday, March 1st at 8am CT. The deadline to apply is Thursday, May 1st. Decisions will be made the first week of May.
Squadron Commanders please approve CEAP applications ASAP.

Our final activity for 2024 was orientation flights at Fullerton Airport. Cadets Aiden Carrillo, Josh Picar and Kyle Suk got their first taste of flight, and were presented their First Flight Certificates. Also flying were C/CMSgt Marina De La Vega (3rd flight), C/CMSgt Haley Vargas (2nd flight), C/SrA Eddie Harris (3rd flight), C/SrA Aaron Bonilla (2nd flight), and C/Amn Lily Ghebranious (2nd flight)

Many thanks to Lt Col Thomas Smith from South Bay Senior Squadron 129, and 1st Lt Francisco Castaneda from San Fernando Senior Squadron 35 for flying our cadets.

At our Holiday Dinner on 10 December at the Reagan Event Center in Downey, Mr. Gus Orozco, Veterans and Armed Services Deputy for Congressman Robert Garcia (42nd District of California), presented Congressional Certificates of Recognition to Los Angeles Cadet Squadron 138, C/CMSgt Edward Pedroza, C/CMSgt Haley Vargas, and Lt. Col. Charles Wiest.

The Matthew Shope Memorial Fly High Scholarship is now accepting applications! The scholarship provides funded flight training for your private pilot certificate for those selected.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. You must be a US Citizen
2. You must be at least 16 years of age but not yet reached your 21st birthday at the time of applying.
3. Must be enrolled in High School, College or Trade School.
4. Must be able to obtain at least, an FAA 3rd Class Medical.

Although the above lists the minimum qualification requirements in order to apply, scoring will take into account all aspects of your application which include (but are not limited to) professional experiences, volunteering/civic organizations, academic performance and a written essay.
