In Huntington Park, California, families are sheltering in place not just from precaution, but from fear. Mario Beltran, Founder of the Southeast Leadership Network, details the severe impact of recent ICE raids on the community, which has left many afraid to go to work or even leave their homes.

This video shows how "neighbors are stepping up to help." Local organizations, including the Save America Movement (SAM), the HP Contigo program, and the Central City Neighborhood Partners (CCNP) Mobile Pantry, are teaming up to provide essential non-perishable food, fresh produce, and critical legal services to residents in need.

We see the long lines for the mobile pantry—a vital lifeline for residents, many in mixed-status households, who have lost jobs or are suffering from crippling anxiety. Mario Beltran also shows "Know Your Rights" materials being distributed, including flyers stating "NO NO ICE ACCESS," to help community members understand their legal protections.

Mientras tanto, Mario Beltrán, miembro de la Red de Liderazgo del Sureste, una organización comunitaria dirigida por voluntarios que durante los últimos 20 años se ha centrado principalmente en ayudar a los soñadores a solicitar y renovar su DACA, dio a conocer que, hasta ahora han completado más de 8500 solicitudes y renovaciones de DACA de forma totalmente gratuita.

Beltrán, inmigrante de El Salvador que huyó con su familia de la violencia de la Guerra Civil, recordó que tuvieron el privilegio de obtener documentos para vivir en Estados Unidos, lo cual no es el caso de la mayoría de las personas.

“Esos jóvenes, hombres y mujeres, que ahora son profesionales y trabajan arduamente para contribuir a este país son prueba de ello”, expuso. “Por eso trabajamos arduamente para proteger el sueño que este país representa para nosotros o para las familias”.

"The younger Barranco told The Times on Sunday that his father was pepper sprayed and beaten, and that his shoulder was dislocated. After speaking with him Sunday at about 6 p.m., Barranco said his father had not received medical treatment, food or water after more than 24 hours in a detention facility in Los Angeles."

Narciso Barranco, a landscaper in Orange County, was detained by immigration officials in a violent altercation Saturday. Barranco is the father of three Marines.
