Animal Friends of Barbour County Animal Friends of Barbour County is volunteer run no-kill animal shelter in rural West Virginia. Con Our hours are by appointment only.

Animal Friends of Barbour County realized their dream of a brand new shelter facility just in time for Christmas of 2011. The shelter was built, in full, by a generous and anonymous member of our community. We have four dedicated cat rooms, 28 dog runs, in house laundry and grooming station.

Pyewacket, We named her this after the Siamese cat in the movie ‘Bell, Book and Candle’ but we call her ‘Pye’ most of the time.
Pye is a lynx point Siamese and approximately 3 years old. She is so gentle and affectionate, and will come up and gently tap you with a paw to ask for affection or brushing. She will jump up on the bed at night some times and lie down purring by my pillow and sleep there for awhile.
She gets along fine with our other 3 foster cats and our female foster Pit Bull, Baby.

Do to the overwhelming number of cats and kittens in our shelter right now waiting for homes or a transport out. We can not take in anymore until we can transport some out. Please be patient with us and the cats/kittens, they didn't ask to be born, it is people who dont spay/neuter their cats that has created this big mess. Please do not drop them off or dump them. Call us at 304-823-2012 and we will put you on our waiting list. Just foster them and take care of them until we can get them.

Aurora is a beautiful 2-year-old calico girl with gorgeous medium-length fur and the most beautiful fluffy tail! But her beauty is only the beginning. This girl is super affectionate and absolutely loves being with her people. Wherever you go, Aurora wants to go, too!

Little Bear, an affectionate 9 year old poodle/yorkie mix, is looking for his forever home. This 10 pound "lovebug" will steal your heart. He is housetrained and walks well on a leash. Little Bear would do well in a home without very small children or large dogs, due to his small size. Won't someone open their heart and home to Little Bear?
