Join us to Celebrate Mr. Saunders on May 25!!!
The Belgrade community will be hosting a retirement celebration for Superintendent Godfrey Saunders on May 25, 2023 in the Belgrade High School Commons. The event will celebrate Saunders' long-time career in education and offer an opportunity for members of the community to come together and recognize his outstanding contributions to education throughout the state of Montana.
Saunders has served as superintendent of the Belgrade School District for the past five years. His career spans 45 years, which includes teaching, coaching, and serving as an administrator in multiple school districts in Montana and Oregon. He also worked with new and aspiring educators at the university level and through mentorship programs. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to the education of our children has been tremendous, and his presence in education will be greatly missed.
The celebration will feature cake, appetizers from Belgrade ProStart, refreshments, and entertainment by the Belgrade Schools orchestra. A brief ceremony acknowledging some of Saunders’ many accomplishments will take place at 4:10pm.
“The Board recognizes that Godfrey has been instrumental in guiding Belgrade Schools successfully through some challenging times, including COVID and the population explosion in the valley,” said Frank Stock, Belgrade School Board Chair. “More so, though, we recognize that he has been a positive leader and role model in Montana throughout his career. We felt it was our responsibility to have a retirement party that celebrated not just our five years with him, but his entire 45-year career serving Montana’s kids. We invite all who have worked with and learned from Godfrey during his career to attend."
The retirement celebration will take place on May 25 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Belgrade High School Commons (303 N. Hoffman, Belgrade). Members of the community, former colleagues, students, and friends are invited to attend and share in the celebration.
