Thank you, Town of Belgrade, Maine!

Our organization and its members are honored to receive the Spirit of America Award in recognition of the Belgrade Lakes Association’s efforts to protect and improve the water quality of Great Pond and Long Pond.

This award reflects the dedication of our members, volunteers, partners, and supporters who work tirelessly to preserve the natural resources that make the Belgrade Lakes region so special. From invasive species prevention and water quality monitoring to youth conservation programs and community education, this work is truly a collective effort.

We are grateful to be part of such a gracious, supportive, and beautiful community, and we look forward to continuing our mission of protecting these lakes for generations to come.

Earlier this month, the Belgrade Lakes Association was pleased to sponsor Sharon Mann’s attendance at the ASLO–SIL Joint Meeting in Montréal, bringing together the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography and the International Society of Limnology. Supporting Sharon’s participation reflects our continued investment in the professionals and scientific partnerships that help protect and preserve our two beautiful lakes.

We work closely with Sharon, 7 Lakes Alliance’s Invasive Aquatics Director, as she oversees the milfoil management efforts on Great Pond and helps safeguard both Great Pond and Long Pond from further invasive aquatic species threats.

Sharon was joined at the conference by her colleague, Dr. Danielle Wain, 7 Lakes Alliance’s Lake Science Director. Together, their participation helps ensure that our local lake protection efforts continue to benefit from the latest research, collaboration, and best practices from the international scientific community.

Thanks to our members who took time out of their busy weekend to join us at our Spring Member Reception at The Village Inn & Tavern. It was wonderful to reconnect after a long winter, catch up with familiar faces, and welcome everyone back to the lakes for what promises to be a beautiful summer season ahead.
We appreciate your continued support of the Belgrade Lakes Association and look forward to another great year of protecting, preserving, and educating for the future of our lakes.
