Sun 6/9th-Sat 6/22 Bill Coperthwaite was a legendary yurt builder, thinker & educator based in Machiasport, ME. He lived off-grid in circular dwellings of his own design, instructing young people in craftsmanship & the art of living.
Join The Greenhorns to build a replica of Bill's "Family Yurt" - a 2 storied multi-use building to support the educational mission of Greenhorns & Smithereen Farm, providing an indoor classroom/workshop & residence for campers, farmers & visiting teachers. You'll be led by Michael Iacona, a trainee of Bill's, in raising the yurt using locally milled Pottle’s lumber & all natural building materials & techniques. It's a rare opportunity to participate in crafting their agrarian campus. This is a 2-wk-long session; they ask that work-traders commit to at least 1 full wk. They provide tent platforms, outdoor kitchen, outdoor toilet, and produce & grocery staples for cooperative meal-making. FMI email Michael
