At last week's meeting, we said farewell to long time member Larry Theye who is moving back to Nebraska. Russell Werkman, Reyn Ritchie and Greg Dutch spoke, thanking Larry for his service to the club.

Larry was a member for close to 29 years. He served as president, program chairperson for eight years and long term membership committee chairperson. He is a Paul Harris fellow.

Two weeks ago, Kevin Johnson from the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport was our speaker. He spoke of the upcoming exhibits at the museum which document the history of the sardine industry in coastal Maine. They shared their experiences at RYLA, ranging from cold cabins to language differences to leadership growth. Both said it was a great learning experience and they were appreciative of our sponsorship.

We couldn't be prouder of these two young men!

Earlier in March, Genna Black and Chip Lagerbom spoke to our club about an exciting program at Belfast Area High School.

The Belfast Marine Institute offers students an opportunity to explore marine life and studies on the coast of Maine. It is part of the curriculum at BAHS.

We were very impressed with the opportunities presented to these students and the enthusiasm of Genna and Chip.
