Well done G1 for returning this loved one to their family!

This cute husky right here got herself into trouble yesterday( mainly with her mom)šŸ™ƒ Her name is Pita Pocket and her mom happens to work here at BVH. Because she is a really nice mom, she took Pita to the pond behind the police station here in Belchertown at lunchtime for a little walk. Pita decided the baby ducks 🐄in the pond looked delicious and off she went to chase after them. While she usually has a great recall, she decided Mom’s command was never spoken and she just kept swimming, swimming and swimming. Her mom got really scared because she could not get her to return. Mom called the authorities on Pita šŸš” Thanks ļæ¼ to the nice police officers and firefighters, Pita made it back to shore safe and sound, though covered in mud head to paws. Let’s just say that Pita’s Mom was not amused. Today, Pita (aka the Swamp Princess) had to go apologize to the nice firefighters who saved her. We think she is adorable and should definitely be forgiven. Thank you to all of our Belchertown public servants involved in the rescue of this cute girlā¤ļø

It has been a busy couple of days for the BFD. Members have answered multiple emergency calls, ranging from emergency medical services and fire alarm activations to motor vehicle crashes. Over the past two days, our crews also responded to a residential house fire in town with limited staffing and a serious motor vehicle crash in the town of Pelham. As always, we thank our members for their professionalism and the community for its continued support.

SECOND OCCURRENCE THIS WEEK!

This morning during Groups 3s shift, staffing was set to 4 FF/paramedics. As their morning began crews ensured all apparatus were ready for service after the two fires Group 2 handled last night.

During this time both ambulances were requested to two separate incidents within minutes of each other. Off-duty personal were requested to cover the station. With one FF/paramedic responding back to cover the town a confirmed structure fire was reported.

Immediately a department recall was announced and both off-duty and on-call personnel responded to the station to respond to the incident due to there being no available personnel to respond. Granby MA Fire Department was also requested with an engine to assist.

Upon the arrival of Belchertown Fire personal a porch fire was confirmed and brought under control. Thankfully there were members available to respond from home to assist with this incident before it became more significant. Thank you to Belchertown Police Department for their quick response and updates for the incoming fire personnel.

Thank you to all who came in to assist, you continue to make this community great!
