🥫 Next Stop, Beech Grove’s 2nd Annual Food Drive is back!

From October 15 through November 15, we’re collecting non-perishable food items to help support local families in our community.

This year, we’re especially looking for canned and boxed foods, baby formula, dry cereal, canned meats, mac & cheese, canned yams, mini marshmallows, instant mashed potatoes, gravy, and boxed desserts.

📍 Donation drop-off locations:
Beech Grove City Hall | 806 Main Street
Hornet Park Community Center | 5245 Hornet Avenue

Every donation, big or small, helps us make sure our neighbors have a little extra support this season. Please consider picking up a few extra items on your next grocery trip and dropping them off between October 15 and November 15!

Thank you for helping Beech Grove take care of Beech Grove. 💚

Come out to Main Street for this awesome event!

See you this Saturday, October 3, from 5:00–9:00 PM for a special Music on Main Street!

The Beech Grove Public Safety Foundation and Next Stop, Beech Grove are coming together for an evening of music, food, and community with an important purpose: helping send as many Beech Grove IN Police Department Officers to attend Police Week 2027 in Washington, D.C.

During National Police Week, Officer Brian Elliott will be honored for his service and sacrifice at the United States Capitol and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, alongside other law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2026.

Black Orchid and Tastes Like Chicken Rocks will take the Main Street stage, with Beech Grove’s own Jason Hammer serving as MC. There will be food from all your favorite Main Street businesses, food trucks, vendors, booths, and plenty to enjoy for all ages.

Numerous businesses and individuals have already stepped forward with generous donations and contributions toward this effort, and we are incredibly grateful for their support. A special thanks to our primary event sponsors CrossRoad Engineers and Rocklane Co. General Contractors LLC.

Come out, enjoy a great evening on Main Street, and help us honor Officer Elliott. While you’re there, please consider contributing toward the goal of allowing as many of his fellow BGPD officers as possible to be there in memorial.

A little perspective from one Tea Room owner to our community… ❤️

I saw another Tea Room announce that they will no longer be open as a traditional restaurant and will instead operate for private events only. And I have to say—I completely understand.

Small, unique Tea Rooms are disappearing, and there is a side of this business that customers don’t always see.

Everyone LOVES the Tea Room at Christmas. 🎄 They want reservations for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and all of the special occasions throughout the year. And when those dates fill up, we sometimes hear, “Well, I guess we’ll have to find somewhere else to go.”

But here is the hard truth:

If you want your favorite small Tea Room to be here at Christmas, you have to support it when it isn’t Christmas.

A small business cannot survive on a handful of busy holidays each year. The lights stay on in January. Payroll still happens in February. Insurance, utilities, food costs and all of the other expenses continue through the slower months, too.

We need you on an ordinary Wednesday in March. We need you for lunch with a friend in June. We need you on those quiet days in August just as much as we need you during Christmas.

I say this with so much love and gratitude for the customers who do support us throughout the year. You are the reason small, independently owned places like ours are still able to create those magical holiday experiences everyone looks forward to.

So when you see a beloved small restaurant or Tea Room reduce its hours, change its business model, or close altogether, please remember: supporting small isn’t something we can save for special occasions.

If you love having unique little places in your community, visit them throughout the year. Bring a friend. Celebrate an ordinary Tuesday. Buy the lunch. Order the dessert. Call in for Take Out! ❤️

Because we can’t wait until Christmas to support the places we want to still be here at Christmas.

And to everyone who continues to walk through our doors all year long—thank you. You truly are what keeps the kettle on. 🫖💕
