ATTENTION:
Emails are being sent out in my name asking the receiver to purchase Gift Cards. This is not from me. Do not send any money to these people. Thank you. Sharon Bode
From the Desk of ASDAR VIS Committee
Dear Daughters,
ASDAR is receiving increased reports of scam and phishing attempts targeting our membership. These attempts are becoming more frequent and more convincing.
These are NOT legitimate, even though they may appear to come from trusted DAR leadership. In several cases, scammers have altered an email address by only one letter or number, making the message look authentic at first glance. Some messages request assistance, gift cards, or funds and often claim the sender is unavailable or out of state.
Please take a moment to review the attached Email Safety Guidance from National, provided by the VIS Committee. This document contains important reminders and best practices for protecting yourself and our organization.
Key reminders:
Do not click links, open attachments, or reply to suspicious emails
Carefully check the entire sender email address for subtle changes
Be wary of urgent requests, especially those involving money or gift cards
If an email uses a method of communication that is not normally used, pause
Call the person directly using a known phone number to verify the request
Do not forward suspicious emails, instead, take a screenshot and share it with your Regent, chapter leadership, or VIS
Scammers rely on trust, urgency, and goodwill. Awareness and verification are our strongest defenses.
Thank you for your continued vigilance and for helping protect ASDAR and its members.
In DAR Friendship,
ASDAR VIS Committee
