Hunger is reaching families who never expected to need help. 💙

In 2025, Loaves & Fishes in Charlottesville, VA distributed 2.2 million pounds of food — feeding 24,000 people. And 1 in 3 of those visitors were walking through their doors for the very first time.

Behind that number are seniors on fixed incomes, single parents, young families, and people working multiple jobs who still can't make ends meet. Hunger doesn't discriminate.

The need is growing — but so is the community showing up to meet it.

14.1 million children lived in food-insecure households in 2024. 1 in 5 kids in the U.S. is affected by food insecurity. And every summer, an estimated 22 million children experience hunger.

That's why Tackle Hunger and Toys for Tots are working together this June to support children not just with essential nutrition,but with the resources that help them stay active, engaged, and hopeful all summer long.

Through the Tackle Hunger local food charity network, families receive meals that fuel growing bodies, while Toys for Tots provides books and toys that spark imagination and encourage play.
