We wanted to thank Kay Jewelers , who donated almost 200 stuffed animals during their Christmas toy drive! Thanks to their support, we were able to pass along the donation to Southern Indiana Pediatrics/Riley Physicians for kiddos that had a particularly difficult visit to the doctor.
Thank you so much for all your support and allowing us to pass along some smiles to local kids!

In Loving Memory of Nala 🤍

Nala came into our lives in February 2015, and from the very beginning, she chose Cole. In every way that mattered, she adopted him. She became his constant — his comfort, his shadow, his quiet companion during moments when words weren’t needed. Their bond was something rare and deeply special.

She had been through so much before finding us, having known cruelty and hardship, yet she carried nothing but love in her heart. Despite what she endured, Nala was gentle, intuitive, and endlessly forgiving. She seemed to understand people on a deeper level — always knowing when someone needed comfort, when to sit close, when to simply be present.

She ruled the house with confidence, keeping the rest of the cats in line like the true boss she was, but her strength was matched by her sweetness. When Cole passed that July, her grief was unmistakable. For a full month, she mourned him — searching, waiting, missing her person in the quietest, most heartbreaking way. It was a testament to how deeply she loved.

This morning, we heartbreakingly lost our sweet Nala but we take comfort in knowing that we are absolutely certain that the moment she crossed over, she leapt — straight into Cole’s arms.

Nala wasn’t just a pet. She was family. She was resilience, devotion, and unconditional love wrapped in fur. We were so lucky to be chosen by her, to witness her gentleness, her loyalty, and her big, beautiful heart.

Rest easy, sweet Nala. You are so deeply loved, and you always will be. 🕊️🐾💔

Thank you to everyone that donated in honor of Cole’s birthday that allowed us the opportunity to support the White River Humane Society! We think it was a great way to honor Cole, who never met a cat he didn’t need to adopt or a dog he needed to pet! Happy birthday Coley!

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Batcole Foundation for their generous donation of supplies to White River Humane Society, given in honor of Cole Winnefeld, who would have turned 22 on Monday, December 15th.

This meaningful gift beautifully honors Cole’s legacy and his sweet, giving spirit. Those who knew Cole know he would have loved nothing more than helping others, including our four-legged friends, and this act of kindness reflects that so clearly.

We are deeply grateful to the Batcole Foundation for turning remembrance into compassion and for supporting the animals in our care in such a meaningful way 💛.

We are still collecting toys for Cole’s birthday! With Black Friday coming up, we’re hoping a lot of the toys will be on sale- they will all be given good homes with kids spending the holidays (and beyond) at the hospital.
