Unfortunately, until further notice, the Bedford County Animal Shelter will not be taking owner surrender cats. Also, the cat adoption rooms will be closed to the public due to sickness. Thank you for your understanding.

Wonderful News! ! Every single one of these precious babies has found a loving rescue. We're grateful, as the shelter is bursting at the seams! A heartfelt thank you to Adele and Kim for lending a helping hand with transporting these bundles of joy, Nala, Chief, Cissy Louise, Wendi, Darci, Myles, and Fruity Pebbles. Batman also has a rescue.Our community and dedicated volunteers shine as the absolute best!! We're thankful once more.

Ernie’s story is heart wrenching. We want to thank his Dad for serving in our great Military. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We also ask that you PLEASE share this post so that we can give his dog Ernie the second chance he deserves.

Ernie came into the Bedford County animal shelter when his human Dad was to be deployed. This was heartbreaking for both owner and Ernie. Ernie had a great life where he was loved and cared for. Now he has found himself without all the comforts of home. No more comfy couch, or even the luxury of being able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine/ relieve himself in his own yard whenever he wanted to. Now he settles for a small tidy kennel with a standard issue dog bed. He is only able to go outside as often as the workers have the time or volunteers visir. There are more than 100 dogs and cats at the shelter right now so individual time is limited. Ernie is such a good boy and he is breaking our hearts. You can see the sadness in his eyes and the confusion on his face. We know he is wondering why his life has changed so drastically.
Ernie is four years old, 65 pounds, and reported to be good with children. He is also said to get along with cats. Ernie would prefer to be the only dog in the home though. He is also housebroken crate train, and absolutely loves car rides.

Let’s start off this day with a super exciting Happy Tails!! Finally, after 6 months at the Bedford County Animal Shelter, Teddy Ruxbin has been adopted! Teddy will have loving human parents, doggy siblings, and even his own kids to play with . We are over the moon happy for Teddy. Thank you to the New family for giving this sweet boy the chance he needed. Also a huge thank you to Susan Washburn Viemeister for transporting him to how new home and helping introduce everyone so that everything went smoothly. Also, thank you to everyone who shared Teddy’s posts and helped promote him.

5 more days!!

The countdown continues! Just 5 days until our MEGA Adoption Event: Summer Edition! Our Winter MEGA Adoption Event resulted in 155 total adoptions and with even more organizations attending, we're hoping to beat that number this time!

Adoption processes and fees will vary by organization. All attending Angels of Assisi dogs, cats, and kittens will be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Puppies will be age-appropriately vaccinated and their future spay/neuter surgery will be covered at our Community Pet Clinic.

You can browse our current available pets at angelsofassisi.org/available-pets, but more will be added in the days leading up to the event, and some may even find their homes before Saturday!

Join us this Saturday, June 27 from 10 AM–4 PM at the Berglund Center Special Events Center. Admission and parking are free and the entire event is indoors. See you soon!
