Friends of Bedford Depot Park Friends of Bedford Depot Park was incorporated in January 1995 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It now has over 200 members throughout the country.

Friends of Bedford Depot Park is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that honors and preserves the railroad history of Bedford, MA and surrounding communities, supports the Depot Park complex and provides amenities and information to visitors. The group:

Helped establish and now supports Bedford Depot Park at the Minuteman Bikeway terminus, at the intersection of South Rd. and Loomis St. in Bedfor

d, MA Helped restore Boston & Maine Railroad Rail Diesel Car #6211 for static display. Operates the Freight House welcome center as a public service. Located at 120 South Rd. in Bedford, MA. Researches and preserves the history of the B&M’s former Lexington Branch and the narrow-gauge Billerica & Bedford Railroad. We are a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that relies heavily on membership dues and donations. Visit BedfordDepot.org for more information.

Free Depot Park Tour Sat. 5/16, 10-12
At this point there is no need to register in advance!

Join rail history author William Deen on a tour of Bedford Depot Park, including the historic buildings, restored railcar, museum displays and outside areas. Deen explains the significance of these relating to Bedford’s century as a rail terminal on the B&M’s Lexington Branch (1873–1977). Up to one mile of walking for those interested in artifacts short distances beyond the park.

This program is offered by the Friends of Bedford Depot Park as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature, Culture & History, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places, objects, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. Hidden Treasures programs are free and open to the public.

FBDP President Bill Deen gave a talk and tour at Depot Park to a private group of 22 on March 18th. We welcome groups and visitors by appointment! Email [email protected] for arrangements.

The Freight House & Railcar Museum will be opening to the public Saturday 4/18, 11-5, then for regular weekend hours starting April 25, Saturdays and Sundays 11-5. Stay tuned for an update soon!
