Bedford Evening Rotary

Bedford Evening Rotary Founded in 1926, the Bedford Rotary Club is one of the oldest service organizations in Bedford County.

The Bedford (Evening) Rotary Club is a community service oriented club actively working on member identified local community projects and Rotary Interntional's education and humanitarian efforts. As a member of Rotary International, we join men and women around the world who believe in SERVICE ABOVE SELF. In the 1950's the Bedford Rotary Club was instrumental in the establishment of the Bedford Me

morial Hospital (now UPMC Bedford) and the Fort Bedford Museum. In the 1960's the Anderson House was deeded to the Borough of Bedford with the stipulation that the Bedford Rotary Club would become caretakers of this important historical structure. SERVICE PROJECTS

Dictionary Project - Each year, the Bedford Rotary Club visits every 3rd Grade Classroom in Bedford County and provides a dictionary to every student in the class, along with a brief lesson on the importance of using a dictionary. Junior Livestock Auction - Each year the Bedford Rotary Club supports the Junior Livestock Sale at the Bedford Fair by purchasing an animal. Your Safe Haven Christmas Project - Each year, the Bedford Rotary Club partners with Your Safe Haven to purchase christmas gifts for needy families. Four Way Test Speech Contest - Each year, the Bedford Rotary Club conducts a speech contest for high school students, and, in addition to cash prizes, offers to send two of the participants to the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. Citizen of the Year - Each year, the Bedford Rotary recognizes a Bedford County Citizen who provides exemplary service to the community and lives the Rotary Motto of Service Above Self.

The Bedford Evening Rotary Club was able to deliver 1,473 items of food to some county schools. Everett, Bedford, and Chestnut Ridge School Districts will benefit from these items purchased with the help of a Local Rotary District Grant.
