Our Philosophy

A New Chance Animal Rescue operates on a foster home model, with the strong belief that boarding and local shelter facilities are not replacements for experiencing home life that prepares a dog for successful adoption. It is in these homes that the dogs experience constant love and the normal activities of daily life, giving them the skills necessary to prosper. Our foster famili

es get to know their foster dog, and that valuable information is detailed in the descriptions of our adoptable dogs. We work diligently with our applicants and get to know their needs and lifestyle, so we can properly match them to an adoptable dog. A New Chance Animal Rescue will not place a dog in a home that is not the right fit for them just to get them out of our care. It is because of this diligence and extensive support we offer post-adoption, that nearly all of our matches are for life. However, if for any reason an adoption does not work out, we always take our dogs back. We believe the commitment made to our dogs begins the moment they come into our care and extends throughout the rest of their life. We receive no government funding and exist entirely through the generosity of donations, both financial and in-kind, as well as the kind support of local businesses. Our Work

All across the nation dogs are abandoned on the streets, abused at home, or simply surrendered by people who can no longer care for them because of health, financial, or other reasons. Shelters do not have unlimited space and often routinely euthanize to make room for more dogs. A New Chance Animal Rescue is dedicated to helping as many of these very sweet and adoptable dogs as possible. We currently operate in nine states, including in our local area, where there are animals in need. A New Chance Animal Rescue believes that every dog deserves a new chance; we rescue dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, medical statuses, and temperaments. Some of our dogs need extra medical, training, or behavioral support to properly prepare them for adoption. Whether it is working with a behaviorist, monthly medication, or care from a specialist, we provide our rescues with all of the care they may need. Since our inception, we have rescued and adopted out over 1,000 dogs.

Meet adorable Francis!
How’s it going gang? My name is Francis, a 1 year old 28 pound American Bully. I’m named after the Saint so that he can watch over me and be sure I get the best home ever where I will receive nothing but love. Sorry about my appearance. Someone thought my ears should be shorter and didn’t feed me very well. But I love to eat so I’m gaining weight and muscle fast. And the rest of my block head is so adorable you won’t even notice my ears after meeting me. A little about me….I love toys! I love meeting people and getting a back scratch! I love being out on adventures. I pretty much love everything! I’m just an all around pretty cool guy that’s super resilient and looking for a family that will cherish me for the wonderful boy I am.

Meet Mallory!

Hi! It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Mallory. This 1-2 year old, 75 pound Great Pyrenees mix is true perfection in a dog! Her soft and fluffy, beautiful coat is only the beginning. This girl has a heart of gold! She walks like a dream on a leash and is easy-going to wherever you would like to lead her. She enjoys taking a walk just as much as she loves to romp around in a play yard with a few doggy friends.

When it’s time to relax, she will lean up against you for love and petting. This confident girl is so friendly. She just wants to meet everyone that comes across her path. She greets them with a smile and if you’re lucky, a lean. There’s something special about her for sure if you choose this girl there is no doubt you will be loved and cherished by her for all of time! If you are looking for a big, fluffy, teddy bear, dream dog, she’s your girl.

Meet Perkins!
Who can resist this beautiful boy?! Perkins is a 40 pound 1.5 year-old Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. You really get the best of 2 amazing breeds with this gentleman. While he is skinny now at 40 pounds he would benefit from gaining some weight; which should be no problem since he is food motivated. He’s still working on some basic manners but he’s such a smart boy and is learning fast. Perkins is full of life and love! He would be a great companion to take on hikes and day adventures. Also the perfect warm body to cuddle up with at home on the couch for movie night. Perkins is ready for all of it! He can’t wait to give all of his love to a wonderful family and share all his happiness with those around him. This boy is pure joy!

❗️❗️ CASE UPDATE❗️❗️

Last week, we shared news about a large intake we were coordinating, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated or sent food and supplies. Your support has already made a difference.

We can now share more details about this case.

A total of 34 dogs were rescued from a property in Patterson, NY. While the Putnam SPCA conducted the criminal investigation, our team worked tirelessly to triage, document, transport, and provide veterinary care for each dog. Every dog has now received the urgent care they needed and begun their journey toward recovery.

The dogs range in age from just 8–10 months old to 12 years old. Four required immediate hospitalization, and two were in critical condition—suffering from severe dehydration, hypothermia, and hypoglycemia. Several are now on strict refeeding programs because prolonged neglect left their bodies too fragile to safely handle normal food amounts.

Although we are honored to give these dogs a new chance, caring for this many dogs at once is a significant undertaking for our small rescue, and the cost has been tremendous. We urgently need donations to help cover their ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, and daily care.

We ask that any comments remain focused on the dogs. Their resilience has been remarkable, and they deserve to be the focus.

Thank you for standing with us and helping these dogs begin a brighter future. ❤️

Thank you to the Putnam SPCA for your tireless efforts. We must also extend a very special thank you to Middlebranch Veterinary Hospital for going above and beyond to assist us in this case.

Additionally, we are grateful to Southeast Animal Hospital, Millwood Animal Hospital, Alternative Vet Services, Guardian Vet Specialists, and CARE of DC.
