Oregon International Ballet Academy

Oregon International Ballet Academy Welcome:
A message from OIBA:
Classical ballet technique is the soul to any physical art form.

Through excellence in ballet instruction and uniquely nurturing mentorship, OIBA teachers instill beauty, confidence, health, love and responsibility, inspiring students to fulfill their dreams. We are not only teaching ballet, we are creating an environment for student’s confidence and untapped potential for beauty to be nurtured. OIBA’s teaching method is based on the Vaganova Method combined wi

th our personal experiences dancing around the world. Teaching through explanation and clear demonstration, we inspire students to focus and find their own voice in dance. We want to see each child maintain their innocence and joy as they grow to achieve the highest level of technical proficiency.
*Oregon International Ballet Academy is a non-profit organization.

Some things cannot be explained in words.
A glance.A moment of stillness.A hand reaching toward another.
Can You See? is a journey through light, presence, and the connections that quietly shape us. It asks a simple question that may not have a simple answer:
Can we truly see one another?
Here’s another glimpse into the process behind Ye Li’s new contemporary creation as it continues to take shape in the studio.

What does it mean to truly see one another?

Can You See? explores light—not only as something we perceive, but as something we offer. Through shifting movement and evolving relationships, the work reflects on identity, awareness, and the quiet connections that shape our lives.

In a world that often feels fast and fragmented, this piece invites us to slow down… to notice… and to recognise the unseen impact of even the smallest gesture.

A hand extended without a second thought.
A moment of presence.
A choice not to look away.

Perhaps that is where light begins.

✨ OIBA Outreach with the Japanese Community ✨
Last Sunday, Oregon International Ballet Academy (OIBA) was honoured to host a special ballet education outreach event for the Japanese community, welcoming around 35 participants for an afternoon of learning and performance.
Our Artistic Director, Xuan Cheng, led an engaging introduction to ballet history, sharing how ballet has evolved over time, followed by a fun and interactive session exploring basic ballet movements and ballet mime.
Our dancers — from Level 3 through Advanced Ballet, age from 9 to 18 years old— also performed excerpts from our upcoming spring production of Paquita, bringing the studio to life with energy, precision, and joy.
It was a truly meaningful experience to connect through dance, and we are so grateful to everyone who joined us. Seeing the curiosity, participation, and enthusiasm from the audience reminded us why outreach is such an essential part of OIBA’s mission.
We believe dance should be shared, accessible, and inspiring for all communities — and we look forward to many more moments like this.
📩 Interested in bringing a ballet outreach programme to your community? We’d love to connect!

✨ Getting Ready for Culture Night! ✨

Our Level 3 dancers at Oregon International Ballet Academy (OIBA) are hard at work preparing a beautiful Chinese fan dance for this evening’s Bonny Slope Elementary School Culture Night!

In the studio, they’ve been focusing on graceful coordination, flowing movement, and the delicate artistry of working with fans — bringing together technique, musicality, and cultural expression.

We’re so proud of their dedication and can’t wait to share this special piece with the community. Culture Night is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity, connect with others, and experience the joy of dance across cultures.

If you’ll be there, come support our dancers and enjoy an evening full of performances, culture, and community spirit! ✨
