Come say hi to us!
"Be Wildfire Aware” at World Forestry Center | May 17, 2026 | 10 am – 4 pm | Museum Free Day presented by Hampton Lumber
As wildfire season approaches, Oregonians must take steps to protect their homes and communities. To help residents prepare, the Oregon State Fire Marshal, Portland Fire and Rescue, Portland General Electric, and World Forestry Center have partnered to host “Be Wildfire Aware,” a wildfire preparedness event at World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum on May 17, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This event offers residents a unique opportunity to learn how to reduce the risk of wildfires around their homes and communities and get involved in protecting our state from the threat of wildfires. Attendees can access expert speakers, interactive exhibits, and hands-on demonstrations. Admission is free for the whole event thanks to support from Hampton Lumber and Portland General Electric. Learn more at Be Wildfire Aware Weekend at the Discovery Museum - World Forestry Center.

We were honored to be one of 9 nonprofits invited to participate in Sunday’s Reigning of the Roses event with Rose Haven.
Throughout the event, Upstream Access connected with more than 100 community members to discuss emergency preparedness, accessibility, and the importance of planning ahead of disasters. We also distributed emergency checklist kits and preparedness items to help people begin building their own emergency kits and resilience plans.

And one of the highlights of the day? Meeting Cesar the No Drama Llama! We received some truly amazing llama hugs, and now Erin and Merry are convinced we need to find a way to bring Cesar to an Upstream Access event in the future for more hugs and community joy.

A huge thank you as well to one of Upstream Access’s staff, Merry, and her mom for joining Erin and helping make the sunny day even more enjoyable.

Preparedness, connection, laughter, and community care all in one beautiful afternoon.
Thank you
