Today marks 18 years of showing up for kids every single day.

From the very first girl we welcomed to the many we've had the privilege of loving and caring for since, each one has made this journey worth it all.

We've grown. We've learned. But one thing has never changed: our unwavering commitment to love and protect vulnerable kids with everything we have.

Here's to the next chapter of everyday love.
Thank you for being part of this story.

On Saturday, Compassion First turns 18. Over the last 18 years, we have walked through every stage of growth and challenge that comes with being a young organization in a uniquely difficult field. These years have held monumental joy, seasons of deep grief, and the steady belief that God is with us.

Like a young girl stepping into adulthood, we carry our history with us and the full anticipation of what lies ahead. Together, we look to the future with hope, knowing there is still so much more to come for the sake of others.

For our 18th birthday, we want to celebrate in a way that gives a lasting gift to the girls in our care. As our homes have grown, some needs have been pushed into the “we will get to it later” category. This year, we are moving one of those into the “get to it now” category by asking for your help to provide quality exercise equipment for every shelter.

From cardio machines to kettlebells and weights, this equipment will promote health, strength, and confidence for years to come. With guidance from experts, we have designed a plan to equip all our homes for about $10,000.

Our birthday wish is to tell the girls this special gift is on its way.
Will you help us make it happen?

Six weeks ago, we wondered if our generous community would help us raise $50,000 to secure a new property in West Java that would allow us to care for more survivors.

The government said yes.
Our staff said yes.
A generous donor offering a matching gift said yes.
And we prayed that our donors would say yes too.

Because of you, $50,400 was raised AND the $50,000 match was met. This means more child survivors will never have to be turned away.

Today, we are honored to share the official name of this home: Promise House.

As Winda shared: "We prayed over it and felt peace to say yes to His invitation to open this shelter and believe that He will fulfill all the needs and His promise. Three years since the first day we accepted the house keys from the owner, God continues to show us that He keeps His promises."

"God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection." Psalm 18:30 (NLT)

Promise House is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and your generosity. Thank you for saying yes so that every survivor has a place of safety and healing!

On World Refugee Day, we honor the resilient families who now call Palm Village home.

After being displaced by natural disasters, they’ve worked tirelessly to rebuild their lives, care for their children, and create a new sense of belonging.

For many, sending their kids to school has felt out of reach. The cost of tuition, supplies, uniforms, and transportation can make accessing education seem impossible. And when children are not in school, the stress on families increases, leaving them more vulnerable to exploitation. Still, the families in Palm Village continue to work toward a better future for their children.

Over the past few months, we’ve come alongside the community to support a shared goal: helping children return to school. A classroom offers more than lessons. It provides stability, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Today, children are learning, parents are receiving support, and trust is growing in Palm Village. We are following their lead at every step.

This is the power of prevention work.

No child should be turned away.

Our West Java shelter is full. Some survivors are being turned away simply because there isn’t enough space. We’ve secured a larger home that will let us care for more children, but we need your help to make it move-in ready.

Every gift will be matched up to $50,000! 🥳

Let’s open the door to more survivors.

Four potential victims, in the process of being trafficked to other countries, were identified and protected before they could be transported. A trafficker had recruited them by preying on their vulnerabilities and promising high-paying jobs that did not exist.

Our trained team recognized the red flags in a busy transit area and stepped in to intervene.

This is the power of transit monitoring. In Indonesia, it is one of the most effective strategies to stop child trafficking. It interrupts the process before a trafficker can move or sell a child. Every successful interception is a life redirected.

What does legal advocacy look like?

When a survivor testifies against her trafficker, we work to ensure closed court sessions so she never has to face her abuser in the same room. Our team supports each girl by preparing her for what to expect and helping her manage emotional and physical challenges.

Because official evidence and records are often limited, our clinical team guides the girls through simulated trials to help them feel ready and confident. This preparation empowers survivors to share their stories with courage.

Legal advocacy involves multiple staff, long hours, and often travel to remote regions. It is a significant investment but one we gladly make to ensure survivors can speak bravely, knowing they are fully supported.

We are celebrating the resiliency of a girl whose courageous testimony in court has led to the conviction of her trafficker.

He’s in jail, and she is enrolled in one of the most prestigious universities in Indonesia.

Thank you for your support and role in redemption stories like this.
