"When we have no money, we depend completely on God’s provision.
But when we become financially comfortable, have you noticed that subtle shift—how easily we begin to act as though we are the owners of our money?

When life is chaotic and everything seems to be moving beyond our control, we depend desperately on God for help.

But when life becomes more comfortable and stable, have you noticed that subtle shift? How suddenly we begin to speak of 'my time, my plans, my preferences, and the life I want to live'?"

Pastor Paul preached on 2 Samuel 7. Watch on YouTube now!

When God calls David to lead, He first calls him to shepherd. God's vision of leadership begins with care, humility, and faithfulness. Whether you're leading a family, serving a friend, or caring for a neighbor, how might you reflect the heart of the Good Shepherd today?

"It is not difficult to understand Joab’s anger.
But what was the problem?
Joab’s problem was not that he became angry.
His problem was that he gave his anger the authority to rule.
The problem was not the anger itself. The problem was that his anger began to govern his judgment, his decisions, and ultimately his actions.
Feeling anger is different from being ruled by anger.
Feeling frustrated is different from being ruled by frustration.
Feeling hatred is different from being ruled by hatred.
God does not want us to be ruled by anger, frustration, or hatred."

Today in Dwelling in the Word, we reflected on Psalm 74, a prayer of honest lament. When grief feels overwhelming, remembering who God has always been can help us trust him today. May we bring our whole hearts to him, confident that the God who has been faithful in the past is faithful still.

"The truth is that none of us enjoys waiting. We live in a generation that wants everything immediately. We want quick answers, quick solutions, and quick blessings. But God almost never works according to our schedule. While we are waiting for God to change our circumstances, God is busy shaping our character. And that is exactly what happened in the life of David."

As we read in 1 Samuel 28 today, Saul's deepest motivation seems to be shaped not by the fear of the Lord, but by the fear of losing control.

"Jesus teaches us to reject violence and to resist the powers of violence in our world. Turn the Other Cheek. Give Greedy the people our coats. Go the extra mile.

And in eternity, in heaven, Jesus is the only one who can open the scrolls of judgment because He is the one who defeated the power of sin, death, and evil. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

So I wonder today, where do you need to live by faith by letting God be the perfect, loving Judge? Where can we let go of our desire for human retaliation, let go of violence and anger, and trust Jesus as our perfect, loving Judge?"

Abigail’s courage in 1 Samuel 25 changed the course of a conflict. She stepped into a volatile situation with wisdom, humility, and boldness, choosing the difficult path of peacemaking instead of letting anger have the final word.

As followers of Jesus, how might we become a community that cultivates voices of peace? What would it look like to listen deeply, speak wisely, and courageously step into moments of tension with the reconciling love of Christ?

"Let us stop trying to tear someone else’s robe. Instead, because Christ's own body was broken and He bore our shame, we have been clothed with Him. And day by day, He is transforming you and me into His likeness."

"There are certainly moments in life when right and wrong are unmistakably clear. There are times when righteousness and sin stand in sharp contrast. Seeking to discern between them is not wrong. As followers of Christ, we are called to exercise discernment. There are times when we must make moral judgments and choose what is right.

But there are other moments when the answer is far less obvious.
We find ourselves asking:
Is this circumstance a blessing, or is it a burden?
Is this an opportunity from God, or a temptation?
Is this wisdom, or merely clever self-preservation?"

Pastor Paul preached on 1 Samuel 21. Watch on YouTube now!
