Songs for Saplings Songs for Saplings makes music for kids. We want them to understand who God is and what He has done Songs for Saplings is the work of Dana Dirksen.

Songs for Saplings is a nonprofit ministry working since 2003 and based in Portland, Oregon. God has supplied us richly with His grace, with the great and deep truths of the Bible, and He has given us gifts to be able to make and share this music with you. It is our prayer that this music will work in the minds and hearts of your children so that they can daily hear the great truths from Scripture. We want them to learn about their God and how he cares for them, and we hope they learn to love him more through these songs. She and her husband James live in in Portland and have six beautiful children, two delightful and sweet daughters-in-lay, and two adequate grandchildren. What Kind Of Death Did Christ Die?

A painful and shameful death on the cross.

Philippians 2:3-11 shows us the humility of Christ. Though He is God, He humbled Himself, became a servant, and willingly went to the cross. God then exalted Him, and one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Christ is Lord.

This truth helps children and families understand both the sacrifice and humility of Jesus. His death on the cross points us to the depth of His love and the hope we have in Him.

Did Jesus Ever Sin?

No, Jesus lived a sinless life.

1 Peter 2:22 tells us that Jesus never sinned, and no deceit was found in Him. Though He became fully human, He remained without sin.

This truth is central to the hope of the Gospel. Children and families can look to Jesus as the sinless Savior, trusting not in our own goodness, but in who He is and what He has done for us.

How Did Christ, Being God The Son, Become Man?

Christ, who is God the Son, became man by being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, with a real body and soul, in the womb of the Virgin Mary.

Luke 1:30-33 tells of God’s promise to Mary: she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of the Most High, whose kingdom will never end.

This truth helps children and families understand who Jesus is: truly God and truly man. His coming was part of God’s promised plan, and through Christ we see God faithfully fulfilling His promises.

What is faith in Christ?

Faith in Christ is trusting in Him alone for salvation.
Not our own goodness.
Not our own righteousness.
Christ alone.

Philippians 3:9 speaks of a righteousness that doesn't come from ourselves or from the law, but through faith in Christ.

And that's where Questions with Answers Vol. 2 brings us: from the Fall and our need for salvation all the way to trusting in Jesus Christ alone.

These are truths we want children to know, sing, and carry with them for a lifetime.

What does it mean to repent?

To repent is to be sorry for sin, and to hate and forsake it, because it displeases God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 speaks of God's people humbling themselves, praying, seeking His face, and turning from their wicked ways.

Repentance is more than knowing we've done something wrong. It's turning away from sin and turning toward God.

What an important truth to begin teaching while hearts are young.
