The BEF is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 for the purpose of encouraging and enhancing academic achievement at all levels throughout the Beavercreek School System. The Foundation awards accomplishments and efforts displayed in the classroom by teachers and students, as well as providing funds to support academic programs and projects within the school system. The BOOK FAIR provides stud

ents, parents, and teachers with an opportunity to review and purchase quality, age-appropriate books. Volunteers work 1-2 hour shifts to assist students locate books, restock shelves, and collect money. The Book Fair is scheduled for both fall and spring. The Valley BOOKSTORE provides a convenient location for the purchase of school supplies, such as pencils, paper, and folders. The bookstore is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. EVERYBODY COUNTS is a program designed to increase handicap awareness. Volunteers work with a prepared curriculum to present a hands-on activity within each grade level. Examples of presentations would include the challenges of a visually impaired individual and the challenges of a hearing impaired individual. Volunteers work approximately one hour per assigned classroom. Profits from the PTO FUND RAISERS benefit Valley students. This is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to assist the Valley Elementary community. Past projects have included the Fall Harvest Sale, Trophy Nut Sale, and Family Day. IMC Volunteers assist the IMC Coordinator with the flow of materials in and out of the Media Center. Volunteers may also be asked to assist with returning books to the proper shelf, arranging bulletin boards or displays, helping with audio-visual equipment, sending out overdue notices and operating the laminating machine. Volunteers typically work 2 hours per week. The SPIRIT WEAR coordinator organizes to sale of Valley t-shirts, sweatshirts and other novelty items at the annual spirit wear sale. The main sale season is in the fall of the year with items being available for the Valley students shortly thereafter. Valley students are often asked to show their school spirit by wearing their Valley shirt. The STAFF APPRECIATION Committee organizes meals, gifts, and cards to show appreciation to the Valley Staff. The VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR assists with the recruitment and scheduling of requested volunteer services for Valley teachers, office personnel, and the PTO. Many people are needed to make all the events at Valley a success. The Coordinator is available the entire school year to be contacted when the need arises.
