SETX Violent Crime Task Force Completes Weeklong Surge Operation
From June 2 through June 6, 2026, the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force conducted a coordinated surge operation in areas throughout Southeast Texas identified for increased criminal activity. The operation brought together local, state, and federal law enforcement partners with the shared goal of reducing violent crime, apprehending wanted offenders, and enhancing public safety.
During the five-day operation, officers and agents conducted proactive enforcement efforts that resulted in:
286 traffic stops
132 citations issued
28 arrests, including 22 felony arrests
11 warrants served
10 fi****ms recovered, including one reported stolen firearm
Investigators also seized quantities of illegal narcotics, including suspected ma*****na, methamphetamine, co***ne, crack co***ne, and oxycodone.
Among the operation's most significant outcomes was the apprehension of two homicide suspects who were located and arrested outside of Beaumont. The Task Force extends its appreciation to the Orange Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Office, and Baytown Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of the homicide suspects.
Participating agencies included the Beaumont Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Nederland Police Department, Jasper Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the United States Marshals Service.
This operation reflects the continued commitment of the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force and its law enforcement partners to aggressively target violent offenders, remove illegal fi****ms and narcotics from the community, and improve the safety and quality of life for residents throughout Southeast Texas.
