Today, The National Council of Negro Women, Inc.'s very own beloved late founder, Mary McLeod Bethune was highlighted during Capitol Conversations. Our National President, , was a special guest speaker on behalf of .
In 2018, the state of Florida passed legislation to give a statue of educator Mary McLeod Bethune to the Capitol. Today, we learned more about the 10th woman and the first African American to be honored in the National Statuary Hall Collection.
There are plans for a Mary Mcleod Bethune sculpture to replace a Confederate General in the National Statuary Hall in the US Capitol. Dr. Bethune will be the first African American figure to be honored with a monument in the National Statuary Hall in the US Capitol.
