Every young person deserves to be seen, valued, and protected. On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we're honored to share why one of our volunteers, Fredia Washington, chooses to serve with Embracing Freedom. Our mission is to prevent the commercial s*xual exploitation of youth through education, advocacy, and survivor-centered support. That mission is only possible because of individuals who are willing to invest their time, compassion, and talents into protecting vulnerable youth in our community. Fredia's story is a reminder that creating a safer future isn't about changing the world overnight; it's about showing up, serving faithfully, and making a difference one young person at a time. To all of our amazing volunteers, thank you for standing alongside us in the fight against child exploitation! 💙

Home isn't just four walls, it's the people who show up to make it one. This week, a small group from Praise Church spent their time building and moving furniture at The Brandice, helping turn the space into somewhere our youth can feel safe and cared for. This isn't the first time they've shown up, and it won't be the last. We've lost count of how many times they've helped, but we'll never lose the gratitude. Thank you so much!! 🙏

LJA Engineering is partnering with Embracing Freedom to help local students start the school year prepared and confident!

Embracing Freedom serves children and youth impacted by exploitation and trafficking throughout Southeast Texas. As a new school year approaches, we are working to provide essential school supplies for 40 students in our programs.

Today, the City of Beaumont proclaimed July 30 as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, reaffirming the community's commitment to protecting vulnerable youth and supporting survivors. Many young people experiencing homelessness are approached by a trafficker within 48 hours of being on their own. That's why safe spaces like the Brandice Drop-In Center matter. Our Education Coordinator, Brittany, and Drop-In Center Program Director, Sylvia, were honored to share how the center is providing safety, resources, and hope for youth across Southeast Texas.

STATEMENT FROM EMBRACING FREEDOM

Embracing Freedom would like to address a recent news interview related to allegations involving the Hardin-Jefferson Coach and a student.

We are disappointed that portions of our recent interview were presented without the full context of the conversation. Our intent was to discuss grooming behaviors, early warning signs, community awareness, and the importance of protecting youth from abuse and exploitation. Not to speak about this specific case. The news coverage did not fully reflect the scope of those remarks and has led to inacurate reporting regarding our position.

We believe these topics deserve careful, accurate, and responsible coverage that prioritizes victim protection and public understanding.
Following conversations with the media outlet, portions of the original story are being redacted and the story is being updated to better reflect the context of our interview and the intent of our remarks.

Our mission remains unchanged. We stand with survivors, advocate for the safety of children, and work to educate our community on the realities of exploitation and abuse. We remain committed to ensuring that young people are protected, believed, and supported.

What an incredible evening at the 2026 ASCO Crawfish Boil! 🦞💙

Our hearts are so full after seeing our community come together in such a big way to support Embracing Freedom and The Brandice Drop-In Center. We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who played a role in making this event possible.

Thank you to our generous donors and sponsors who continue to believe in this mission and invest in the lives of youth in Southeast Texas. Thank you to the ASCO Equipment team for your partnership and dedication. A huge shoutout to ASCO, the Embracing Freedom staff, and volunteers who worked behind the scenes before, during, and after the event. From setup and serving to coordinating details and cleanup, your hard work did not go unnoticed.

A huge thank you to all of our silent auction donors for your generosity, to Ray Long for donating the delicious crawfish, to Giglio Distributing Co. and Del Papa Distributing Company for sponsoring the beer, and to the band for creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening. Thanks to Governor Greg Abbott, human trafficking is now an automatic first-degree felony in the state of Texas, with even more penalties for traffickers of children & disabled people.

Texas is a law-and-order state.
