🦋 SAVE THE DATE | JANUARY 22, 2027 🦋

Where Hope Blooms, Freedom Takes Flight.

Join us for Embracing Freedom's 9th Annual Gala, an evening dedicated to honoring the strength of youth survivors of trafficking and the brighter futures we are working together to create.

The evening will feature a special guest speaker who will share their journey toward freedom through their lived experience as a survivor of s*x trafficking.

Guests will enjoy dinner, a silent auction, our signature cake auction, and more as we come together to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable youth in our community.

Because when hope is given a place to grow, freedom becomes possible. 💙

At Embracing Freedom’s Brandice Drop-In Center, we serve young people who have been impacted by trafficking and exploitation. Some of our participants are experiencing homelessness or spending extended periods of time outdoors and may arrive with limited or no clothing.

That’s why we’re launching ✨️Clothed in Care✨️, and we’re asking our churches and communities to help us keep essential clothing available for participants when they need it. If you, your family, business, church, small group, or organization would like to participate in Clothed in Care, we would be grateful for your support. We kindly request new clothing items so we can provide participants with fresh essentials.

📩 Want to organize a clothing drive or donate?
Send us a message or contact Brittany at Embracing Freedom at (409) 790-0798 to learn how you can help.

A huge thank you to ASCO Equipment for their continued support of Embracing Freedom! For the past several years, ASCO has supported our mission through their annual crawfish fundraiser, helping us continue providing hope and healing to the youth we serve. Today, we had the opportunity to bring lunch to their team as a small token of our appreciation. We are incredibly grateful for community partners like ASCO who continue to stand alongside us and invest in our mission year after year. Thank you, ASCO Equipment, for all you do. We appreciate you! 💙 And a special thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Fredia Renee Washington, for helping us pick up and deliver lunch today!

🌟 THE GLOW WALK IS BACK! 🌟 A COMMUNITY WALK, NOT A RACE:
Every child deserves to feel safe. Every survivor deserves to know they are not alone. 💚 Join us for Embracing Freedom’s 2nd Annual Embracing the Light: Glow Walk! This is a non-competitive, family-friendly community 5k walk. Kids 12 and under walk for FREE. No winners, race times, or pressure to finish at a certain pace; we come together to shine a light on child trafficking and exploitation in Southeast Texas and stand alongside survivors. In the past year alone, Embracing Freedom provided more than 1,500 crisis response services. Behind every number is a young person, a survivor, or a family who needed someone to show up, listen, advocate, and help them take the next step.

A 16-year-old girl has been gone for more than a week, and I cannot look at her face and treat that as just another headline.

Rikki Weatherford has been missing from Taylor, Texas, since August 27. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children says she may be with an adult male.

Taylor police are asking the public for help. Rikki is 5 feet 3 inches tall, with hazel eyes and black-and-blue hair cut in a pixie style. She was last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie, blue jeans and black shoes, and carrying a Spider-Man backpack.

Police have said she may be in the Mustang Island or Corpus Christi area. Anyone who knows where she is, saw her, or has information that could help is urged to contact the Taylor Police Department at 512-352-5551 or call 911.

I keep thinking about what her family must be living through as each hour passes without an answer. I hope people share her picture, remember her face, and speak up if they know anything.

I am also praying. I ask God to guard Rikki wherever she is and lead her safely home. I pray that He gives her family strength when fear and uncertainty wear them down.

And I pray for the officers and searchers. May God sharpen their minds, put the right witness in their path, and lead them to the piece of information that brings this search to an end.

Will you take a moment today to pray for Rikki and her family, and help keep her face before the public until she is found?
