Lamb's Printing Exibit at Spindletop- Gladys City Boomtown Museum

Lamb's Printing Exibit at Spindletop- Gladys City Boomtown Museum This working museum will serve as an educational tool for students of all ages.

The Process

Thomas K Lamb, Jr, the last president of the family business, preserved a full set of printing and type set machines in hopes of finding a place to display and educate future generations about a dying trade. He received support from Lamar University Foundation to open a “print shop” in the Gladys City Boomtown Museum, a museum operated by the university celebrating the oil discoveries

of the early 20th century that put Beaumont on the map, with the understanding that the family would search for the funds to build the museum.

The Foundation's Oldest Living Donor.

We are proud to present Tom and The Lamb's as gracious donors of FSETX. Their family arrived in Southeast Texas in the 1870s and were involved in just about every aspect of the community in the city of Beaumont.

After 101 years, Lamb wanted the family name to be remembered and thought The Foundation was a good way to make that happen. The Lamb family made their initial contribution sometime after 1996.

"Our initial gift was not all that large — we knew by combining our gifts with others, it had a chance to grow larger, which it has." - Tom Lamb

Their initial fund of $25,000 is now valued at $107,371.45 today.
