Meet the Stars, Austin Williams edition!
1. What is your title/position at work?
-"I am the VP of Marketing and Business Development Finance for First Security Bank. I am also the Founder/Minority Owner of 5 Under Golf Center."
2. What made you say YES to being a star?
-"I have been extended invitations for this event repeatedly over the years. What ultimately led me to accept the invitation were 2 factors. First, the support and encouragement from my colleagues at First Security Bank, which was truly overwhelming. Their words of encouragement meant a great deal to me. Additionally, my wife Nicole played a pivotal role in persuading me to participate. Her enthusiasm, along with the added push from Lindsay Wortham, who works alongside her at Calder Woods, left me with no choice but to accept! They didn't give me an option to decline!"
3. What do you do when you are not at work?
-"Golf is my life. It's the magical key that has opened more doors for me than I can count, our family business for 40 years and competitive golf for another 35, the list goes on for days! I've also become a full-time golf spectator or "Golf Dad" following my son Reece's quest for golf world domination. Watching my son compete in golf tournaments all across the country has been a true joy. And of course, I've become a professional 2-year old wrangler for my daughter Julia. I look forward to her playing golf as well as she begs me to play with her every day! When I'm not chasing after her sweetness, I'm adventuring with my wife, exploring the world traveling and exploring new cities, dining at new hot spots and hunting for exciting business opportunities."
4. What is your favorite thing about living in SETX?
-"I believe that the majority of people in SETX are resilient, compassionate and hardworking individuals who are always willing to lend a helping hand. The sense of community here is strong and you'll find people who would give you the shirt off their back. I have lived other places and people are less inviting. Beaumont doesn't shun anyone and that includes me! Second, one of the perks of living in this area is the convenience of getting around. Beaumont's strategic location makes it easy to access neighboring regions. It is also affordable to live in Beaumont. The lower cost of living allows for more financial flexibility and you can achieve your goals and dreams here that might be harder to attain in larger cities. I've always taken pride in calling Beaumont my hometown. When I would stand on the first tee and my name would ring out 'Now hailing from Beaumont, TX Austin Williams' the words 'from Beaumont, TX' never failed to send goosebumps down my spine."
We are so excited to have Austin join us this year and are continuously thankful for all the support he continues to show the Junior League of Beaumont year after year!
