We warmly welcome a new member to the Board of Directors, Director Nick Hughes.
Nick looks forward to carrying on the legacy of his dad, Dan Hughes who served on our board for many years, from 2004 until his recent and sudden passing April 15, 2026.
Nick will fill the vacancy on the board and complete the rest of his dad’s term on the until the election in November, 2026. He was voted on and sworn in during a board meeting last week.
Since joining the Board in 2004, Dan Hughes served with a passion. He believed in the power of parks, recreation and community spaces to bring people together, and he worked tirelessly to make that vision a reality. His leadership helped shape the District into what it is today, but more importantly, it helped shape a stronger, more connected community. Nick is quite familiar with a director’s duties, as he grew up at his father’s side, involved as well, while Dan served the community.
As we continue to hold the Hughes family in our thoughts, we know Dan would be incredibly proud of Nick as he joins the board of directors in honor of his memory and legacy.
