Boy Scout Troop 322 is a traditional Boy Scout unit serving the "Pass" communities of Beaumont and Cherry Valley, California. We focus on cycling, kayaking, rifling-shooting, survival skills, hiking, backpacking and snow mountaineering. Other Troop activities including earning the Aviation Merit Badge aboard the USS Midway (a WWII vintage aircraft carrier) in San Diego harbor, installing and maintaining the landscaping for the Beaumont Post Office, and visiting the Malki Museum on the Monrongo Indian Reservation. The Troop frequently engages in community service projects such as tree-planting, trail maintenance, and local in-town projects. Boys can start Scouting at any age, and at anytime, between 11-17 years old. Our adult leadership staff has been extensively trained in the BSA "High Adventure" series of courses, and has led hiking trips in the local national forests, the High Sierra mountains and in the Mojave desert. All of us go through an extensive background check through the Council. We carry current CPR and First Aid certification. Scouts are insured against accidents or injuries through the national BSA as a part of your registration fees. The Boy Scouts of America have the best youth protection policies of any organization in the United States. WHY SCOUTING? It builds the entire boy, not just one part. Your son learns while he has fun. He develops respect for American values, not currently taught elsewhere. He gains an appreciation and respect for the natural world around us. Through earning Merit Badges he might well find his vocation in life. If he remains dedicated and earns his Eagle Scout award it will enhance your son's chance of entering college or military service academies. And again, it's FUN! There's eight (8) summers between age 11 -18 . . . make the most of them with your son!
