🌾🍂 A Night of Gratitude, Growth & Giving! 🎃🌽

Wednesday night’s Harvest of Giving grant awards ceremony, hosted by Hancock Whitney Bank, was such a meaningful evening for the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center!

We are incredibly honored to be recipients of these critical grant funds, which allow us to continue investing in the success of our 200+ local nonprofit members. But this year, we were also especially honored to have our Executive Director invited to speak and share an update on the nonprofit sector, the growth and expansion of our Center, and the exciting new services and initiatives we have on the horizon for our nonprofit community.

There is something special about being in a room filled with the nonprofit partners, colleagues, and friends who make this work so meaningful. We are proud of how far our Center has come and even more excited about what lies ahead as we continue to expand our reach and strengthen the organizations serving Southeast Texas.

We simply cannot say thank you enough to Hancock Whitney Bank for believing in our mission, investing in our work, and continuing to partner with us to connect area nonprofits to critical funding and, ultimately, success. Your support makes a real difference - not just for our Center, but for the countless individuals and families served by the organizations we support.

🧩 Member Connection: Shorkey Center

The Member Connection for September brought the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center team to Shorkey Center, just off College Street in Beaumont, TX. We met with Executive Director Julie O’Malley, who shared Shorkey Center’s comprehensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy program for children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities, along with additional services such as Speech and Aquatic Therapy and the on-site Instruction Junction Inclusive Preschool.

The Shorkey Center is an extensive facility that includes an indoor pool for children, a physical therapy room with a dedicated staircase, and two outdoor playgrounds! We visited one of their learning spaces during lunchtime, where we witnessed a team of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) working one-on-one with every child present.

With a fully revamped curriculum, Shorkey’s Inclusive Preschool is a Texas Rising Star-certified program that serves children ages 2 to 5 and uses elements of the Learning Without Tears curriculum to meet each student's needs. Julie detailed how they maintain the quality of their preschool through the incredibly low student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1, which allows a more individualized learning experience. In addition to their preschool education, any student who also requires on-site services, such as speech or occupational therapy, can receive that as well!

⚓️💙 A little look back at a special evening from last month!

SETXNDC Executive Director, Kayla White and Executive Assistant, Rainey Knox were honored to attend the Loula Foundation’s Anchor of Hope Gala, where Kayla had the privilege of introducing this year’s honorees, the Courville Family. ✨

We’re proud to support the Loula Foundation and the important work they do providing person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented support to individuals and families in our community.

And for Kayla, the evening was especially meaningful - the Courville's are family to her, making the occasion all the more special. ❤️
