Honoring Service. Honoring Sacrifice. Honoring a Life of Service. 🇺🇸
Today, we’re honored to share the story of Larry Knapp, Chief Master at Arms, U.S. Navy. More than three decades after his Navy service ended, Larry continues to serve veterans, their families and our community.
Larry is a proud member of the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group (SETVSG), where he helps provide final military honors for veterans and service members who have passed away.
As part of these services, members of the SETVSG assist with the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the family, a three-volley r***e salute and the playing of “Taps.” These final honors offer solace and comfort to families while recognizing the service and sacrifice of their loved ones.
On September 11, Larry participated in two veterans’ funerals alongside fellow members of the SETVSG. The group also conducts and participates in patriotic community events, memorial services and programs that honor veterans and active-duty military members.
Larry continues to do his best to live a life defined by service, sacrifice and remembrance.
Recently, following an automobile accident, Larry suffered injuries that caused severe pain to radiate down his legs. He sought medical care from Dr. Varan Haghshenas, an orthopedic spine specialist with Baptist Physician Network.
At Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, we are honored to care for those who have served our country — and grateful to be a small part of Larry’s story.
This 9/11 weekend, we remember. We honor. And we thank Larry and all who have served. 🇺🇸
