Beaumont - When it comes to BBQ in Beaumont, the oldest name in these parts is Patillo’s. “My grandfather had this place built in 1950. Prior to that, we were in downtown Beaumont,” said owner Robert Patillo. Mr. Patillo is the 4th generation caretaker of this old school southeast

It's been a year or more since the first case of Covid-19 was discovered in Beaumont. The devastation has taken a toll on our restaurants, and as we know, it takes time for businesses to rebuild after something like this. Restaurant owners have had to make sacrifices, sacrifices that helped us, in order to keep their doors open, but they need help from us now if they are going to be able to recover. There are many ways that you can support your favorite restaurant - come out more often, buy some items off the menu or just stop by and say hello! These small steps go a long way towards helping them get back on their feet again.
Restaurants are a huge part of who we are as Beaumont residents. They're not just the places where we go to eat, they're what makes our town unique and gives us character. For many people, dining at their favorite restaurant is a come together experience for friends and family, an escape from reality--a chance for them to enjoy something that reminds them of better times outside of this year-long covid-19 tragedy that has been plaguing our community.
As it stands right now, there has been no relief in sight for these restaurants who have been struggling financially with customer traffic being down 40% since the first reported case of covid-19 was confirmed by the Center for Disease Control on March 29th. Restaurants are getting by on a shoestring budget, some closing entirely.
It's up to us, they are family. Let's all do our best to come together and help these wonderful places get back on their feet again!
Restaurant recovery is about more than just food, it's a place for people to come and be together again. The people who own and work there are just like you and me, but more importantly, they are part of our community family, we are Texas-grown and that means something around these parts my friend.
Restaurants are not only places where you can enjoy the company of friends or family in this tough time--they are also an economic driver that helps keep money flowing into our neighborhoods and communities. They need your support so let's cowboy up and do something.
We here at Beaumont Eats will be going out and spotlighting area restaurants so we can get to know who and what they offer, help us indemnify with our newfound friends, and get to know them better.
Your part will be to share your experiences when you visit your favorite restaurant, tell us about the food and staff while you're at it.
We want you to tell us what works for you, what doesn't work for you, or any other information that might help out our new friends in this time of need. Restaurant recovery is a community project, not just an individual one so we're counting on all hands-on deck. Let's all put our money where our mouth is. STAY TUNED content coming real soon 🥰
