Ieshia “Lesha” Champs faced homelessness, raised five children, and endured tremendous obstacles while pursuing her dream of becoming an attorney. She returned to school, earned her GED, completed college, graduated from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and passed the bar.
Her children were part of the journey, helping her study and supporting her through the demanding years of school. Her graduation photos famously captured the moment as a family victory, with her children holding signs saying “I helped too!” and “We did it!”
