Proud to support FFA/4H livestock exhibitors whose parents are members of Jefferson County Farm Bureau. Board member Delana Horn congratulated the following students at the Hardin County Fair. Caroline Gohlke -North China 4-H, 6th grader at St Anne’s received a $100 add-on for goat project.
Kayden Odom - H-J FFA, 9th grader at Hardin-Jefferson H.S. received a $200 add-on for 7th place overall market swine.
Jefferson Co FB donated $200 towards Scholarship Auction . Funds will be used to help purchase future projects.

If you happen to be at the Texas Rice Festival Saturday come by and visit. We are located in the Rice Education Area in the Community Building. Make sure to sign up for a chance to win the backpack cooler. We will draw the winner at 2:00. Today we welcomed 150 5th grade students to explore agriculture by visiting booths and a tour of the Agricultural Museum.

Jefferson County Farm Bureau is proud to partner with the Texas Rice Festival, promoting educational activities for local FFA/4H members. The Rice Education Contest is the oldest youth competition held by TRF dating back to around 1974. The contest is held in the memory of Mr. Ruben Stringer who taught vocational agriculture for 55 years at Little Cypress-Mauriceville and Hamshire-Fannett high schools. Mr. Stringer was well known for his students winning the Rice Education Contest countless times and his dedication in keeping the contest a viable part of the Texas Rice Festival.

Port Arthur Area Shrimper’s Association.
Today we had the opportunity to visit with local shrimpers about the benefits of Texas Farm Bureau Membership. Ted Britton, District 9 Farm Bureau State Director, explained the legislative process and representation Farm Bureau offers on the local, state and national levels. Shannon Martin, Jefferson County Farm Bureau Insurance Manager, presented information on insurance benefits available to Farm Bureau Members. With the newly announced USDA Office Of Seafood, producers and processors of wild harvested seafood have opportunities that have been limited in the past. We at Texas Farm Bureau look forward to a great partnership with Texas seafood producers.
