Beaufort Community Cat Project Beaufort Community Cat Project supports spay-neuter of free-roaming cats in eastern Carteret Co.

A cat overpopulation problem exists in almost every community across the country. We acknowledge the fact that the nation's and each community's cat overpopulation problem is complex and involves many different perspectives. We also acknowledge that part of any solution set is sterilization of cats. In fact, many comprehensive and ongoing spay-neuter programs for cats (including this one) have been successful at reducing local animal shelter intake and numbers of cats in communities. We focus on sterilizing free-roaming cats, as they are the largest contributor to the pet overpopulation problem comprising about 80% of local shelter intake. We do this through Trap-Neuter-Return and offer free spay-neuter for feral cats in the area code of 28516 and Downeast Carteret County.

4️⃣2️⃣ = the number of cats spayed, neutered, and vaccinated by the AMAZING team at PetDocks Veterinary Hospital!

They closed their office today to complete as many surgeries as we could trap cats for! In one day they altered what would normally take up to 10 weeks to accomplish with the few appointments we are able to get locally.

🎯The best part - they are willing to do it again!! They stayed until after 7 this evening ensuring every cat was altered and recovering!

❗️We need your help - we were able to work with Brandt Animal Foundation and your donations to accomplish these surgeries! There are so many more community cats who we can help. TNR is the only way to prevent the continued growth of the population of community cats.

Molly is back!! This time we’re gonna try to find her an inside home. Molly came from a place that wasn’t so great. We rescued her, kept her indoors for a couple months and sent her to the café. She was returned because she was scared, and therefore tended to hide most of the time which is not very conducive to being adopted at a café. She came back and spent a few more months inside and we thought we would try finding her barn home since she came from outside. She immediately escaped and was gone for two weeks before we found her again. So now what?
She’s back indoors and we’re going to try to find her an inside home which seems to be her preference. She is friendly but a little bit shy. She loves other cats. If you’re interested in giving Molly an inside home, please reach out to us

Today we had someone reach out asking for help with a mama cat and her 5kittens. We suspect the mama cat had been dumped pregnant, but soon after gave birth. Island Cat Allies was able to help!! We know the cost associated with raising kittens from a tiny baby until they’re adoptable and taking care of mom (it’s not cheap). Thank you ICA for taking these babies off the street and placing them into a safe foster home.

We are still trying to raise enough funds to treat 40 cats during our large TNR event for fleas (can cause severe anemia and can very very uncomfortable) and intestinal parasites(which can take nutrients away from the cat and cause malnourishment and dehydration). The cost is about $20 a cat. We have raised $500 — our goal is $1000. Please consider sponsoring a cat!!

Beaufort community cat project is teaming up with Island Cat Allies with support from Brandt Animal Foundation and Pet Docks Veterinary Hospital to TNR 40 cats in one day in Oct.

We are hoping with your support to be able to provide flea control and deworm all of these kitties (our goal is $1000) before they are released. We are also asking for some food donations to feed 40 cats while in our care (our goal is 10-12 cases)
