Due to the weather USCB Center for the Arts will be closed on Monday.
Books Sandwiched In will be canceled on Monday February 2nd.

Please join us this Monday Jan 26, at the USCB auditorium from noon to one for the first session of Books Sandwiched In.
Our first presenter is Dr Frank Rodriguez.
Dr. Rodriguez is Superintendent of Beaufort County School
District in South Carolina, overseeing more than 22,000 students across 30 schools.

A Florida native, he earned a BS in Social Science Education from
Florida State University (1993), an MS in Curriculum and Instruction
from Florida Atlantic University (2000), and an EdD in Educational
Leadership from Florida Atlantic University (2009). Before joining
Beaufort in 2019, Rodriguez spent 26 years in South Florida education: starting as a secondary social studies teacher, serving as a program coordinator for the Florida Department of Education, and advancing in Palm Beach County as an elementary and secondary principal, Area Director of Transformation Schools, Assistant Superintendent over six departments, Area Superintendent, and Regional Superintendent.

Known for his bilingual communication—starting robocalls in English and Spanish as "your proud Superintendent"—Rodriguez prioritizes student engagement, visiting schools regularly and hosting advisory sessions. He has driven college and career readiness initiatives, including 30 state-approved CTE programs
with a 98.9% completion rate for 1,500 students in 2023.
His leadership has earned accolades: 2025 South Carolina Superintendent of the Year by SCASA; 2023
Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association; induction into The Citadel's
Zucker Family School of Education Wall of Fame; and Superintendent of the Year 5A/4A by the South Carolina
Athletic Administrators Association. Rodriguez lives in Beaufort County with his wife and two children.

The 2026 Books Sandwiched In season starts this Mon., Jan 26, 12pm-1pm at the USCB Auditorium.
Dr. Frank Rodriguez, Superintendent, Beaufort County School District, will present Leading Change by John P. Kotter.
Please Join us for some light refreshments before the discussion.

2025 is about at an end. What an interesting year it has been. We want to sincerely thank you for all of your support throughout the year. We couldn't support our library without your help.

It also means it is time for another season of Books Sandwiched In.
We have a great lineup this coming year and hope you can join us for any or all of the talks which start January 26th and runs through March 2nd at the USCB auditorium Mondays from noon to 1:00.

We are less than 2 weeks out from the Book Sale and our volunteer schedule is only 57% filled.  Times of greatest concer...

We are less than 2 weeks out from the Book Sale and our volunteer schedule is only 57% filled. Times of greatest concern are both Friday and Saturday's last shifts.
The Shift Lead Cashier seems to be an issue across most days and times, but it sounds scarier than it is. You will have some training and will just need to be a little familiar with how to navigate a smart phone and be willing to help others. There are also FOL board members there to assist you if you have a big problem.

If you have a few hours and love to read please consider signing up for a shift. We count on our volunteers to make our annual Friends of the library Booksale a success so we can support our local Beaufort County Library System programs.

Its that time of year again.

The annual Friends of The Beaufort Library Booksale will be happening Friday November 7-9. Friday morning is members of the Friends only, so come on down and join so you get first pick if you are not already a member.

Tomorrow, Saturday June 14th at 930am is the annual Friends of the Library Meeting at the Scott Street library in Beaufort.
Come see how the FOL supports the local libraries., Meet the new board members, and see how you can help.

We still have many openings at all the libraries serving bag lunches to children this summer thru July 31. It is Monday - Friday excluding holidays.
Please sign up for 1 or 20 spots on the Friends of the Beaufort Library website.

The Summer Lunch program is starting again soon and we are looking for some FOL members to help us hand out bag lunches to the kids at our 3 libraries from June 2nd until July 31st, excluding holidays.
