We want to raise $50,000 to further our mission to uncover the truth and to tell and teach missing parts of our nation's history. All funds raised go towards ongoing research, building teacher resources, and fostering community conversations encouraging a greater understanding of our past and our present so we can create a better future by fulfilling the yet-to-be-achieved promises of freedom, equality, and justice for all.

Sharing Common Ground is leading the engagement of Middle School students (grades 6-8) in discovering stories buried in American history. These young people are led to uncover, learn about and interactively share with each other (along with families, friends and communities) the untold and often mistold stories of the formerly enslaved and their suffering and achievements in the Reconstruction era during and after the American Civil War.

ALL proceeds go to funding our non-profit, Second Founding of America.

We are sponsoring a film on PBS!

The Second Founding of America is proud to be a producing sponsor along with the Greenspoon Center for Peace and Justice, of the new documentary film about the life and work of Dr. Edith Eger. Dr. Eger’s incredible life journey as a Holocaust survivor, renowned psychologist and trauma specialist, author, and activist, is chronicled in “I danced with the Angel of Death: The Dr. Edit Eva Eager Story”, the latest installment of a series of films featuring interviews with Holocaust survivors. The film is a production of the Holocaust Educational Film Foundation. It will air on PBS stations across the country and premiers on South Carolina ETV this Sunday April 11th at 12 noon.

Billy Keyserling says, “As a board member of HEFF, and founder of the non-profit Second Founding of America, Beaufort, I chose to invest in this film project to honor the many people who’ve come together through both organizations to learn, teach, and promote a better understanding of each other and our own history”. “We need to know and understand each other’s pain and work together to ensure a more civil, equitable and just world for all.”
