What a spectacular sunset in Beaufort tonight! I decided to hike up the Grayden Paul Bridge (Beaufort High Rise Bridge) to enjoy watching the sun go down over the Newport River. It was a stunner!

My favorite way to start off a week, wild horses and other beautiful sights from Taylor's Creek and up and down Front Street in Beaufort!

I have seen so many big boats recently, it was fun to see some little boats on the water. These are boats of the Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum Junior Sailing Program...always so fun to see them out on the waters around Beaufort!

I couldn't imagine a more beautiful way to start off a week! I hope you have a fantastic one!

Well this certainly put a smile on my face! Wearing the Hurricanes shirt proudly today (at the office!!) I imagine there are some folks across NC who could make use of this letter though. Good one Governor Josh Stein!

Here are photos of the fishing boats that I took Friday and Saturday of Big Rock. If you or your boat participated those days, I may have a photo of it in here. If you recognize any boats please tag them in the comments or share the post to them so they can see the photos.

If you are a boat owner or fished on one of these boats and want the pics just let me know, I can send them to you in a higher file size than on here. You can reach out to me through the post or by email at [email protected].

Thank you!

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

Trying anything to get a bite in the The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament! I am not normally one to spill Cheerwine anywhere but in my mouth, but as an offering to the Gods of fishing... worth it!

Well, Big Rock is officially over, and while I didn't get to bring anything to the scales, I am overjoyed that I had the opportunity to participate in this amazing event!

The waves today were much more friendly than they were yesterday, and we had a delightful run out to approximately 55 miles offshore. There were SO many boats out there fishing today! It reminded me of an old Western movie: 'Round up the posse, we are going after fish!'

The Carolina Blonde Fishing reeled in one mahi, but it wasn't the size to tip any scales, and one other fish that decided it wanted to see what was going on aboard the boat before it was tossed back in.

The sea had a beautiful deep blue today, and it was mesmerizing sitting on the stern of the boat and watching it interact with the seagrass and spray from the boat. Occasionally looking at the greenish yellow vegetation floating in the water I thought I saw the brighter yellow of a mahi, but it may have just been wishful thinking!!

At 3:00 we pulled in our lines and headed back into shore. We had lots of of boats sailing along with us...it was a blast watching them, well, blast through the waves! It never ceases to amaze me, the beauty of the boats cutting through the water.

We got back into dock and had quite a welcome party to greet us; the boat owner, and some of the crew and fishermen's family and friends. The crew let us pick from the swag they had gotten for participating in The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament...I of course chose the Jarrett Bay Boatworks shirt to add to my collection!

I truly enjoyed my Big Rock experience, and I will be sailing with Carolina Blonde in the future, going out to get meat for the freezer. They will soon be offering charter fishing trips, and believe you me, I can't wait!

Thank you everyone for following along on my adventures with Big Rock this week. If it wasn't for all of you I wouldn't have been able to do this!

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Once more into the deep blue, hopefully today with more fish, less waves, and a chance to tip the scales! Day two of my deep sea fishing adventures with the Carolina Blonde out of beautiful Beaufort, NC!

The seas are much smoother today, thank you Lord, and many more boats are participating in The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament today than there were yesterday. Hopefully this will be a more successful fishing day for all of us!

I am delighted to be on the Carolina Blonde Fishing boat again today! It was amazing watching the sun rising over the water and the parade of boats going out. Please wish us luck!

Have a fantastic Saturday!
