10/04/2026

We hoped the weather would hold out in hope of have the Blessing of the Fleet but the chances of rain have only increased. Soooo we are canceling for today but will have everything ready for the 30th annual Blessing of the Fleet next year.

10/03/2026

We will decide at 7am if we can proceed with the Blessing of the Fleet as planned. If we can squeeze it in between rain we will.

Many thanks to Neal Stetson of Newport for allowing us to use his photo "Cool Breeze on the Newport" as the cover photo for this year's North Carolina Seafood Festival Blessing of the Fleet publication.

This special book is provided to you free of charge each year by the North Carolina Seafood Festival. It preserves not only the Order of Service, music, poems, stories and such but there is also a listing in the back of commercial fishermen and women, others involved in the industry who have passed away (not limited to lost at sea) in the back that is added to every year for the last 29 years.

The book is available at the Blessing of the Fleet. If any are left over after the service, you may request one from the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center or call the NC Seafood Office to submit a request.
