A judge has ruled that CSAM created via AI is protected under the first amendment. This is an incredibly unfortunate ruling with consequences that could reach far beyond this individual decision. When protections meant to safeguard children are weakened, it is children who ultimately bear the greatest risk.

This ruling has the potential to leave more children vulnerable to exploitation while contributing to the continued erosion of their rights, protections, and safety. Perhaps most concerning is watching individuals in positions of power—those entrusted with holding the line and protecting the most vulnerable—begin to move that line rather than uphold it.

Protecting children should never be negotiable. Their safety, dignity, and fundamental protections must remain a priority, regardless of changing pressures or circumstances.

A common misconception of human trafficking is that it involves strangers and/or kidnapping. Sadly the reality is that more often than not, it is done by immediate family members or someone that individual already knew & trusted.
