Thank you all for your incredible support! We have an important announcement to share: GGIF has decided not to host our traditional Thanksgiving event this year. Instead, we are focusing our efforts on expanding our organization to better serve our community throughout the year. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience during this transitional period. As we enter the festive holiday season, GGIF wishes you all a joyous celebration. Let us remember the importance of lending a helping hand to one another and embracing the theme of this year's Penn Center Heritage Days: "Honoring Our Past, while Inspiring Our Future!" Join us for a fun and safe evening of Trunk or Treating

The Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. (GGIF) we be hosting the 2023 Trunk or Treat event at Penn Center on Sunday, October 29, beginning at 4pm. Trunk or Treat is an alternative to traditional Halloween Trick or Treat activities. This year will be our 1st TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT.

Come by in your best Halloween costume and visit each of our spooky trunks to receive treats!
There will be prizes for the most creative trunk! A Halloween themed movie will play during the event. To register for the best decorated Trunk, contact the Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. at (843)962-0242

As this year’s 🍁 holiday approaches, the Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation (GGIF) is excited to announce our 3rd Annual "Day of Thanks & Giving'' Food Distribution! Thanks to our 2022 official sponsors; "HEALTHY BLUE SOUTH CAROLINA” "WALMART FACILITY # 6582" "SC DHEC" "PUBLIX SUPERMARKET" & "DOMINION ENERGY'', GGIF will provide a total of 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ poultry items ( Turkeys, Chickens, & Cornish Hens ) along with side-dish food items to families/individuals in need this upcoming holiday.

This year's "Day of Thanks & Giving'' will be held on Saturday, November 19th at Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Park (860 Sea Island Pkwy, St. Helena Island, SC). Beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending no later than 1:00 p.m. All organizations and or individuals interested in or donating to this year's food distribution are encouraged to contact us ASAP! We would also like to thank this year's community partners "SCSU 1890 Research & Extension", "Tap Ultra Lounge", “MLK Park Committee – Penn Center”, “Girl Scouts Troop 4105”, "Lowcountry Food Bank", “Gullah Farmers Cooperative Association”, St. Helena Masonic Lodge #4", & "Island Grill"!

Additional funding from the community will support GGIF's goal in purchasing enough Collard Greens, Sweet Potatoes, Rice, Cornbread Mix, Elbow Noodles, and Cranberry Sauce to support at least 200 households in need this Thanksgiving. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated.

The Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation (GGIF) hopes that you and your family are in good health and spirits. GGIF continues to be grateful for the ability to serve the community with so many of you during this Thanksgiving Holiday. In the midst of a transitional period, we still have so much to be thankful for. God's grace and mercy continues to surround us daily and assure us of brighter days ahead. Let us use this opportunity to remember the least among us, and where we can, let us assist our brother or sister. If we do some soul-searching, we can find something to be thankful for. I know some of us are not where we'd like to be: however, it is our faith that will get us through the tough times. In all things, let us remember to be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!🙏🏽🧡🦃🍁
